Lumos is open for submissions!
Lumos is now open for submissions. All stories have been moved from The Burrow, Pureblood and Wolfsbane, but reviews are still pending -- so please be patient with us.

All authors, please check your stories to make sure the characters, classifications, and warnings are the ones you desire, making any needed changes. We appreciate your assistance.

In a few days, we will post more information about new features on Lumos we believe you'll enjoy -- please watch for further announcements!

Quite a change. I particularly like the larger size of the story text frame for editing. But where do I look for my unanswered reviews (or answered ones) now? Are they still supposed to have their own page? Because they're not appearing in my Account info.

Well this is NOT good.  Why on earth did you have to do this? When Pureblood, Wolfsbane and The Burrow where on there own sites, I could easily find the completed stories and all. But now they are all scrambled together and I can't find anything properly. And this advanced search thingy is not working very well, because even if I click it to sort the stories so that the most recent one is on the top, IT DOESN'T WORK! It sorts everything alphabetically. FYI: NOT GOOD!

So please fix the advanced search or make proper sorting of the different sites and their stories. And I mean that if I want to find the Wolfsbane stories I can click a link where it says Wolfsbane and everything is there.

And I have to say that, if I wasn't so fond of these stories I would just leave this palce and never come back.

So I thank you for messing up a good system.

P.S. Here's a free bit of advice: If it works, don't try to fix it!

Hi duj --

I hear your concern about the drawbacks of this release -- apparently eFiction has elected to rely on automation for several procedures that we've done manually in the past. Insofar as I can see, reviews are one of the affected functions.

Therefore, it would help you a great deal if you set up notification of new reviews by doing the following:

1) At the top of the Lumos home page, click Account Info
2)Click Edit Preferences
3)Click the check boxes next to "Contact for new reviews" and "Contact when author responds to review."

I know that this is not the approach that many have generally used in the past, but it will work, and thus I encourage you to try this.

Believe me when I say that the additional security from hackers that we have gained -- which is a critical vulnerability of the release of eFiction that we had to upgrade -- is an acceptable trade-off for new approaches in the current release.

Lady Red --

I hope that you've read what I wrote to duj above, for the security vulnerability is exactly what did not work in the old version of eFiction.

This vulnerability has given us more than one sleepless night. In fact, SH will not be secure until all of the archives are converted. In the worst-case scenario, it is altogether possible that SH could "go away" under the old release because of the security issues -- in fact, this has already happened to other fanfic archives.

We appreciate your working with us during this time of change -- and if you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to futher contact the help Desk.

So I've read every completed fic on Wolfsbane, and the Burrow (and Ashwinder and Occulmancy), but had just started on Lumos and Pureblood. So now they're all mixed in and I can't find a list of all completed stories anymore. How do I get a list sorted by date so I can sort through them again, and how do I get my favorites which don't appear to have been migrated? Please tell me you're not going to be changing any of the other sites at Sycophant Hex!

Please put back the completed stories button. i'm finding it impossible to find what stories i have read and which ones i haven't!
- Its_Never_Enough on 10/06/2008 03:21 pm
Thanks, crazymarie and Its_Never_enough, for bringing this matter to our attention. We hear what you are saying, and thus we are hard at work correcting this glitch. We will have to correct it manually, so it may take as long as a week to complete. Please be patient with us -- it will be taken care of, and we appreciate your valuable input!

Also, Marie, unfortunately there was no way to move over everyone's favorites from the old archives, even though we would have wished this to be the case. So we are asking members to please move their own favorites over when they are able to do so -- for the old archives will still be available for some time to come. We've also had to ask the authors to double-check their stories to make sure all is well, and so we hope you understand the limitations of this move. If you have any further questions, please contact me directly and I will try to help you out.

Hi! Congrats on the relatively smooth upgrade. As you say, every upgrade has a few hitches and unexpected consequences, but I'm sure you'll have them all ironed out. This experience will probably help when it's time to implement the upgrade on the other archives, so that's a good thing, too.

I'm hopeful that combining the archives will help people discover more great stories that might have passed under the radar before. I rarely visited The Burrow, for example, though I've read good stories over there, and now I'll be more likely to see them here.

Thanks much for all your continued hard work!
