Very fascinating story. I can see the shock he must have felt on reading his mother's journal; perhaps he would have remarried a powerful witch, trying to have a wizard son, or just let the family line die out, to hide his Squib blood. Either way, your back-story for Argus Filch is quite believable.

Wow, Filch's father was a heartless bastard. This was awesome. I've always wondered about Argus and seeing how his early life was, I can see why he ended up like he did.
