Perfect. I've studied Macbeth in many different ways before, but this was simply the most outstanding pastiche. Someone once said - although for the life of me I can't think who - that to parodise or to create a pastiche (which is what you have done), one must have a great fondness for the works. You obviously know your Shakespeare. I had a wonderful time identifying all the various characters - I was very wary of Molly taking on the role of Lady M, Ginny was a perfect subsitute. I loved Harry and Ron as Malcolm and Donald, and i would never have seen the Malfoys as the MacDuffs but you have done it! Fabulous fabulous story. Now... any chance of your interpretation of Hamlet? Harry as the death obsessed Danish Prince? Or perhaps Draco. Oh dear... the plot bunnies are nibbling!
Author's Response: Wow, thank you! And an intriguing idea, one I may consider some day. I minored in theater and I have a friend who also is a fan of Macbeth who helped me with this. I agree about Molly -- I just did NOT see her as Lady Macbeth. But Ginny has a darker side, which you start to see in OoP. Heh, yes, the Malfoys as the Macduff family was a bit warped, but it makes sense in a strange way, too.
Thank you thank you!
This was wonderful !!!! You incorporated one of the great pieces of works in such a believable way. I tip my hat to you.
*sigh* That was the loveliest tragedy I have ever read. You know, I know that some people would probably be all put out because they would not like to see some of their favorite characters portrayed in such a light, but I truly enjoyed this. I *love* stories that are different, that take me in new directions. This was exciting to read. I also love the way you wove in Shakespeare. The intensity of this story makes me want to go reread Macbeth. When I signed in just now I saw that you have uploaded two more stories. Wherever do you find the time????
Author's Response: My own personal time-turner ;) Juuuust kidding (I wish I had a time-turner). Actually, a lot of these stories have been written previously and posted elsewhere. Glad you enjoyed this story, it was a bit different for me.
This chapter was particularly brilliant. I had to log on in the middle of reading the story in order to review it. The emotion here is so palpable, I feel like I am mourning with your characters. I am absolutely *hooked*. I have never seen a story like this here before, and I find myself yearning to be able to write something with this much meat to it. Now, I am sorry to be taking so long to read this but, see, I have 2 kids running circles around me and I have to upload chapters to my palm pilot in order to read. Plus, I do not want to miss a thing by rushing through this. This story is worth my extra time and attention. Truly.
Author's Response: Hey, I understand about real life, so take your time. This story isn't going to disappear, it will be waiting for you. And wow, thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!
Wow…this was an outstanding story! I was wondering how you could lead the normally somewhat stable Arthur Weasley down the slippery slope into madness, but you did it brilliantly. You handled the angst well, and did not go over the top with the other characters. A very enjoyable story to read. Please keep posting.
Author's Response: Wow, high praise indeed! Thank you. While Arthur M. is complete, I do have other stories done -- and others on the backburner.
I love it! What caught my eye was the reference to Macbeth. When I clicked on it, I saw 10 chapters (!!) and 1 review. Thinking, now how could that be, I had to hop on over to your profile and see that you probably had it all written and posted chapters quite quickly. When I saw that you write for a living, well then, I just *had* to read it. So far it is great. I will have to read it a bit at a time as it is too much for me to read at the moment, but it is saved in my favorites. I will review again later! ~notsosaintly
Author's Response: Wow, thank you! Yes, you are correct: I had this completely written before posting it here. Glad you enjoy it so far. I would like to see more feedback, but I also understand I'm fairly new here. Also, I realize that this story isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea. But I'm glad to hear you like it!
Mr. Weasley as Macbeth? Sounded a bit odd, as I never really saw him that way, but this looks really interesting. I look forward to seeing where you are taking this. Very well written and plotted so far.
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, I believe the premise is a bit strange, and this story won't be for everyone. I also would state that I highly doubt that Arthur Weasley will come anywhere near this evil in the Harry Potter books. However, I would argue that under the right circumstances, Arthur Weasley -- and Ginny, for that matter -- could show a darker side. Arthur has a temper -- remember who threw the first punch in Flourish and Blotts in CoS. Also, Arthur is not above tweaking and bending the rules to suit his purpose (examples in CoS, GoF). I know there was a debate at the Harry Potter Lexicon Forum whether Arthur would make a good Minister of Magic. I would say that it depends on how he got the position. Ginny Weasley began to show some more devious qualities in OoP, and we don't know about any long-term effects of Tom Riddle's possession.
