This. Is. Awesome. I love the concept and all these complex ideas you are weaving together. I love the extra descriptions you have added, I can really see the scenes now. If you're still after that beta you can contact me at feather_quill_writer_girl@hotmail.com. I'd love to throw idea around with you, if you'd like it.
Author's Response: Thanks so much, Feather Quill! I've had three offers of betas in the last two days -- which is wonderful. I'll contact you via e-mail with some idea of where my thinking is.
--Martha
And the plot thickens. I hope the promise of all the threads you're weaving together is fulfilled. This story deserves to be a recommended story.
Author's Response: Thank you so much, HumanTales! I'm certainly going to try to weave everything together.
--Martha
Wow, you've just stunned me with your amazing plot, and well crafted ideas. I would be honored to beta for you. I am so glad that you updated; I've been waiting for a week, but this was definitely worth it. Great job!
Author's Response: Thanks, ladyc! Let me know how to contact you via e-mail. Several folks are already giving me suggestions, but I'd love another POV.
--Martha
The story is based on wonderfully solid suppositions, as well as being readable and compelling. A lot of background info and not a lot of "shipping" behaviour - a refreshing change for me! Highly recommended.
Author's Response: Thank you very much, pipedreamer! This story grew out of speculation about the lack of Jewish wizards, and my ideas about magic grew from there.
--Martha
Hey great chapter, although not as long as ones in the past....but an update is of course an update, and this is definitely better than nothing.
I am a beta reader, and i will be happy to help you, that is if you haven't chosen somebody already.
Author's Response: Hi JTBJAB! That would be great! How do I contact you directly?
--Martha
What an interesting story! I'm really looking forward to reading more installments. Thanks for posting.
Author's Response: Thanks, Inspire! I'm preparing for a job interview tomorrow, so it may be a day or two before I post the next chapter.
--Martha
I just finished reading all six chapters, and I wanted to tell you that I love this story so far. You have a fascinating idea, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Author's Response: Thank you, Michelle! I am working on the next chapter -- it's almost done, in fact. Glad you're enjoying the story.
--Martha
Wow, I just read all 6 chapters. I really like where you are taking this. Watching Herimone and Draco uncover a secret Wizarding world is going to be very interesting.
Author's Response: Thanks, Alesia! This kind of support really helps.
--Martha
I'm very intrigued. Update soon! :)
Author's Response: Thanks, Feather Quill! I hope you liked the descriptions -- I made a point of putting them in after your comments.
--Martha
you can't just leave us here!! this story is really good, and really really gripping. please update soon!
Author's Response: Don't worry, ladyc -- the next chaper is mostly written and should be up in the next few days.
Thanks for your support!
--Martha
And the Jewish connection appears. Do we see the Qabalah make an appearance?
I'm enjoying this story; I always enjoy examinations of different cultures. The way you're bringing them in adds depth to the story.
Author's Response: I haven't decided yet if I'm going to bring in Kabbalah (both spellings are appropriate). But certainly there would be a connection between Kabbalistic attempts at influencing the world and magical attempts to do the same thing. Hm. I'll have to think about it. Thanks for the idea, HumanTales!
--Martha
Oh man! That was so ultimately cruel!
Unless of course you will be updating soon, in which case it was a suitable cliffhanger.....i have my fingers crossed that my review is feeding your bunnies!
Author's Response: *Giggle* Yep. The next chapter is almost completely written. But my bunnies seem to like cliffhangers almost as much as they like reviews. So don't worry -- I will be updating soon.
--Martha
Wowweee, have you ever got a fun plotbunny thar ;D
I really, really like where you're going with the idea of wandless magic and the Jewish Wizard Conspiracy. (...*feels like there should be a (tm) after that, lol*) I can't wait to see where you're going with this, and am definitely bookmarking this. It's very nicely written. Logistically I think the story may be a little overpowered by the tones of Draco/Hermione that are creeping in there, but you after all are the author ;) and this is probably just my zeal to see the bigger plot picture, so to speak.
Very nice job! :)
Author's Response: *grin* The little bugger's been chewing on my brain cells for a while now. (Good plot bunny. Leave me alone.) I actually wasn't intending for this to be a Draco/Hermione thing, but it seems to be creeping in there. At least as friendship. Hmm. We'll have to see what happens as they confront even more suprises. :-) I'm working on the next two chapters and hope to have them finished soon. Thanks for the review, PlaidButterfly!
--Martha
Great story!
I look forward to your update!
Author's Response: Thanks JTBJAB! Hope to update soon. --Martha
I came over to Lumos just to see if you had updated. Pardon me for being late. I am so surprised to Draco is going to meet Muggles for lunch. It's a shame we cannot kill Lucius real quick, so he can turn in his grave when he finds out. :-) And I thought of another reason why there are no Jewish witches and wizards... Levitican law "thou shall not suffer a witch to live". It's going to be so interesting to find out what part Grindelwald plays in this. Excellent job! I particularly like Snape (big surprise) in this.
~Lisa
Author's Response: Hi Lisa!
I'm so glad you like Snape's characterization here. I'm really trying to tread a fine line with him. But there's a reason for Draco meeting Muggles. I'm moving pieces into place for future actions. Plus, I think he's really changing as he works with Hermione and with Snape. He's kept his snobbish superiority by never really mixing with non-Purebreds. So being forced to spend time with a "Mudblood" who's so much more interesting than any of the purebreds is really making him think. Thanks for the review!
--Martha
I stumbled on this fic by accident and I'm glad that I did. This is very well written. I'm curious to see where the story will be going in the next few chapters. I'm a bit of a sucker for HG/DM and was a little surprise to it develop. Good Work!
Author's Response: Cool. Thanks, Greengiraffe! I've been busy with Passover recently, but I'll try to update soon. --Martha
This seems to be a complicated story to write, but you are making it understandable and easy to read. The flow is nice and I like the gradual friendship of Draco and Hermoine.
(PS There are non-HP fans out there? Will wonders never cease)
Author's Response: Thank you, Zebraspots! And, yes, there are non-HP fans. Weird, huh. :) --Martha
Great story. Glad to see an update. Looking forward to the next update.
Kim
Author's Response: Thanks Kimilynn! I'm working on it. :-) Martha
The story is really intriguing so far - I'll definitely be back to read up on more! Thanks!
Author's Response: Thanks a lot, Peishan! This sort of support really makes my day. --Martha
I really love the concept of this story! The questions that you have posed are fascinating, and I can't wait to see how you explore them. I hope that the earlier questions aren't completely dwarfed by the larger one, because all of it is really, really interesting. I think the only thing I could criticise about this story is perhaps not enough in between the dialogue. It would be great to know what is going on in the characters facial expressions and movements. It is difficult to get an impression of where they are physically from just the dialogue. More of what the characters are actually doing, where they are in their environment would make an overall picture of the scenes easier to envisage.
Author's Response: Interesting. I'll try to include more description in the next chapter -- which introduces new characters anyway, so I should give you enough so that you can visualize them. Thanks for the support! --Martha
What an interesting story! I do like the idea of bright students really digging into the foundations of magic. The historical angle is intriguing too. I wonder if you're going to get into the scriptural sanctions against witchcraft in considering the lack of Jewish wizards (or were they all wiped out?). Interesting subject. It's true that you might not get as many reviews as you would with a standard sex and romance fic, but I think this kind of intellectual story has a real value and I hope you will continue!
Author's Response: Thank you so much, Arsinoe! What a thoughtful and encouraging review! As you might imagine, there is a reason there are no Jewish wizards -- all will be explained as I go on. I'm going to go and write more now. :)
I'm really enjoying this story. I like the idea of their thesis. Looking forward to hearing more of their interactions and research.
Kim
Author's Response: Hi Kimilynn! I'm glad you're enjoying. Thanks for reviewing!
I love the little plot bunny. Nice, evil, nasty, little, dark buggering bunny. This is a fascinating story, combining wizarding and Muggle history. And I can't wait for more!
~Lisa
Author's Response: Exactly! I told you I know all about nasty plot bunnies. Basically, I started wondering what it would take for Hogwarts to accomodate Othodox Jews, and I quickly realized it couldn't be done. But according to JKR, there are no other magical schools in the UK. Thus there must be something sinister going on, right? :-)
--Martha
Ooh, I just found this story. I love your ideas about magical theory and history. Looking foward to seeing what the great Hitler/Grindelwald cover-up is. :)
Author's Response: Thanks! I've got big plans there.
--Martha
hope draco and hermione come togehter in this story it is a great idea espcially that wizard know nothing of holocoust. very interestion line (and thanks for beeing accurate ) about the holocoust even after 50 years. many people want to get rid of it instead.
keep on writing Nintschi
Author's Response: Yes, you're right. But there's a reason that Draco doesn't know about the Holocaust -- you'll see more as the story goes on.
