I agree with Melpomene, it is excellent work-- with all due respect however, Ms. Erato, I beg to differ. I do not find the language antiquated. It suits the nature and gothic angst of the story, and I find a number of reasons why: 1. Snape is a most learned man who has most likely read every single ancient tome known to wizard and muggle, and likewise, his vocabulary reflects that. Not to mention that he descends from a pureblood family that no doubt is a deliciously antiquated lot. 2. Davina is also a well-studied, well-read scholar. I like to see that she can stand on the same footing as Snape, and is capable of knowledgably parrying his wit and cynicism. Snape would not be moved by anyone less. She needs to be exactly as she is, and speak the way she does in order to shake his foundations. In order to get through his many layers. 3. If written in mundane everyday language, we would lose the otherworldliness of this work. Irrevocably. I find the command TSH9S holds over the English language to be incredibly stirring. I find this to be a seamless extension of the JKR universe that is finally all grown-up. Forgive me for disagreeing, you have a right to your opinion, and i have enjoyed your works as well. However, A Dark Herbal is of a completely different sort, and for that I am a most devoted fan. If I had the blessed ability to write even half as well as any of you, I personally wouldn't change a thing in this masterpiece. Yours wickedly, vitriol.

*Love* your references (Lord of the flies, Persephone, etc.) Iyt's 2 AM and I can't go to bed: must read more! Narrative is good, but the dialogue is too antiquated.

After seeing WhiteRaven has visited you here, I must definetly second that. So glad your haunting, lyrical story has found it's way to this quality site. I wait with a kind of enthralled patience, believing that one day your Muse will beckon that gem-like inner Voice of yours to speak further on the encounters of Miss. Davina Knight and Severus Snape and thrill and enchanted us yet again.
