Awesome story! I loved it so much. You've really captured the 'essence of Harry' in the thoughts he had at the end. I also loved the way you left the ending open to the interpretation of the reader. The atmosphere you've created inside Azkaban is so genuine too. Well I think that Snape was trying to help Harry.
Very well written. Even though the story line is now in the AU world, it is still well-crafted, still fits with the canon of its time, and still leaves the reader on the edge of her seat!
Well done, indeed! The ambiguity of the ending is really tantallizing and very original. I thought you did an excellent job of keeping both characters true to their personalities. while exploring an alternative setting. Of course, it's completely up to the reader's imagination to come to a conclusion about Snape's motives and whether Harry lived or died - both frustrating and fun at the same time! Too cool.
But at least mention why he's at azkaban?
Nice!!!
Author's Response: Thank you for your comments. I've been thinking of revising and lengthening this story a bit to explain a little more about how Harry ended up in Azkaban, and why Dumbledore wasn't able to intervene this time. In a nutshell, what happened in this alternate book 6 timeline is that Fudge continued to ignore Dumbledore's instructions, and he had Harry arrested and put on trial for breaking into the Dept. of Mysteries. Dumbledore and Harry's other friends spoke in his defense, but Fudge and his allies in the Wizengamot listened to Harry's enemies instead (who said that Harry was incorrigible, unstable, and a danger to society), and decided on the harshest punishment permitted by wizarding law.
ooh i wish there was more! i want to hear if he died lol!
Author's Response: Heh heh heh, and spoil the ambiguous ending? Never!
Yay, I love Snape. I know, Harry dear, Snape is loyal to Dumbledore, I know it!! Eeek!
I absolutely love your details and the strong atmosphere you created, especially in the beginning, as well as the clear thought process of Harry's later on. Snape's comments were so... oh, they were good, they are always so laden with meaning that Harry doesn't always catch and the reader might not catch if they don't know what Snape is refering to, you know what I mean? He does it allllllll the time. I mean, in the books and stuff. You captured that appropriately here, too.
I HEART SNAPE. He is SUCH an interesting character. JKR's best character yet.
Author's Response: So, you are quite sure that Snape was trying to help Harry? Perhaps, perhaps not... I'll never tell. Heh heh heh. It was fun layering all of Snape's dialogue with a clever subtext that takes Harry a while to figure out, and still leaves him guessing in the end.
Excellent. Very original yet still very canon (pre HBP, of course;)). Is there going to be a sequel?
Author's Response: Thank you. No, there won't be a sequel. The title question will never be answered, save in the mind of the reader, although events of the upcoming book 7 may help to clear up the matter by making Canon!Snape's motivations less ambiguous.
Very intriguing piece. I like it alot. Well done & the did he or didn't he left me wanting for more, but also willing enjoying the unknown. Thanks!
Author's Response: You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. This one was fun to write, particularly Snape & Harry's scathing comments.
Ooo. Quite...interesting. Not sure how it fits into canon, but definitely a powerful piece.
Author's Response: Quotes are from Sorcerer's Stone (flashbacks to Harry's first day in Potions class), CoS, Gof, and OotP. Everything else is basically an alternate universe 6th year story where Harry has landed in Azkaban due to some trumped-up charges engineered by Fudge's administration and Harry and Dumbledore's enemies. Since Harry found himself before the Wizengamot in OotP, I thought it possible that he might find himself in court again in HBP, and this time he might be convicted. I guessed wrong...but at least it makes for an interesting AU setting.
Wonderful! Harry's thought processes are absolutely spot-on, although I'd query him being able to recall verbatim the events of the first potions class. I love the way you leave us guessing. Any chance of a sequel?
Author's Response: Thank you. Well, admittedly, Harry wouldn't exactly have a copy of SS lying around to consult ;-) Perhaps Snape helped him remember? I really didn't have a sequel in mind, merely an HP version of "The Lady or the Tiger." So, I cannot tell you what was in the vial...
Nice piece. Do we ever get to know if it was a poison or Vitamuere?
Author's Response: Sorry, I cannot tell you what was in that vial. If you believe that Snape was trying to help Harry, then it was Vitamuere. If you believe that Snape had sinister purposes of his own, then it was venom.
Oh -- excellent. You've woven canon beautifully into this little tale.
