I like an angry harry
That was a great 'alternate' story... thank you.
Another chapter! Thank you for the fast writing, I don't know how I would have survived if it took you a month to add another one like some writers!
Author's Response: Ah, but the end of the story, I'm afraid ...
Wow, this is what I call a beautifully woven non-canon-but-canon-related story. Please go on, and don't take too long!
Enthralling. It reads more like a novel than a Harry Potter book. Cool! I love reading about how the magical world lives side by side with the wizarding one. Anxiously awaiting the next chapter!
Author's Response: We're going to be moving back into wizarding life in the next few chapters!
I like how you're keeping the suspense while bringing the story along and keeping this AU true to canon, especially with the Hogwarts "updates".
Author's Response: Being AU it's obviously not canon, but it can still be cross referenced. Umbridge would still be at Hogwarts ...
I find the changes in Harry interresting. Beliveable too. He's more focused here than he was in the book, but it's due to his seclusion and his time in Azkaban, his lack of trust.
Harry's move out into the world was like what everyone goes through, moving out of the parent's home and out on your own, but with the added stresses of his situation.
Anyway, I'm really enjoying this story, and was glad to see an update when I came here this evening. This could turn out all sorts of ways, and as I think about the things that went on at Hogwarts during Harry's fifth year... what will become of so many students who were helped so much by the DA...
And Dumbledore... I'm wondering if somehow he is preventing Harry from being discovered, that maybe he knows something. Whatever is going on, I see a lot of planning and thought behind this story, and it's a very good thing to see.
Author's Response: Harry's been forced out into the world, and more mistrustful than ever. But working alone has its perils - as we shall see!
I liked your story. Please don't take too long to continue.
Well done. To read this is to be there.
Author's Response: Writing the Azkaban episode was hard work, but, I hope, worth it.
Even though our boy has been through terrible times, at least this hardened angry person is less likely to take sh*t from people! Go Harry!
Can't wait to see how this develops!!
Author's Response: And go he will!
stygian - hell of a word!
Author's Response: In more ways than one. I like words - but did you like the story?
Another very good chapter. I like the way you write Harry, and the way you're giving this story credibility by working in canon in a good alternate universe scenario. Looking forward to the rest! :-)
Author's Response: We're now into bitter!Harry territory - and solo!Harry. But I musn't give too much away ...
GAHHH!! The computer ate my review! Okay, doing this again.
I noticed a few minor errors toward the start of the chapter, but was soon pulled out of 'beta' mode by the writing and storyline. This is the sort of 'AU' story I love... Canon, only one change in a canon event changes everything in the time stream beyond that event, rather than 'AU' being a simple dismissing of canon to write a story using HP names to garner readership that wouldn't exist otherwise.
Your storytelling and description are compelling. I did find, however, that the span of Harry first entering Azkaban and him noticing the weather change, as well as his own physical weakening seemed shorter than it should have been -- though the whole transition did have a certain 'lost' feeling to it, which fitted the situation very well, but it still seemed too short when that happened, I thought.
I'm very much looking forward to the next chapter, and hold hopes for Dumbledore -- though somehow I think Harry's been warped to the point he won't listen to Dumbledore, who I'm sure was doing everything in his power to get Hary out of there ASAP. Great writing!
Author's Response: Thank you for the kind words. The idea came to mind when re reading OotP. I'm not very keen on the way JKR does angsty!Harry, I'm afraid, so it's not my favourite of the books. But, I thought, what would have happened if the courst had found Harry guilty? Becuase Fudge wouldn't have set it up unless he thought he had quite good chance. This, as you say, changes everything that follows - and will be explored in the next 6 or so chapters!
Azkaban - difficult to make it all that long, since it's a repetition of horrors - I don't want to go into the recalling of past horrors, since that was already done in PoA. Instead, I was more interested in what you could do to survive - though, as you will see, this does take its toll on Harry.
