This poem had me cracking up - very clever! I loved it. I featured you on my new Reader's blog, http://abunchofwordz.wordpress.com/.
Author's Response: I'm very glad you liked it! And, cool, thanks for featuring it on your blog. :D
That's awesome! How'd you end up coming up with that?
Clearly this person has a very unlucky family... any inspiration from the Kennedys?
Author's Response: You are so funny. I swear, there were a few days where the refrain just came to me and got stuck in my head. Then I came up with the idea for the story and the nusery rhyme fit right in with it. After I wrote the story, I had to finish the entire rhyme. So, there you go.
Hey, it's me, author_by_night from LJ.
This fic is so dark, yet in a morid way, not much worse than Ring Around The Rosey or others that are said to have come from less-than-innocent stuff. Although this is more obviously about death - there's parts I don't think a kid could miss being implications of murder or tragic death. I doubt the Weasley kids were taught this song... probably children like Draco and Bellatrix.
Author's Response: And James. James sang it to Harry. :)
If you have time, read my story, Thestrals, that inspired this rhyme.
Have you ever heard the rhyme "Oranges and Lemons?" The ending goes, "Here is a candle to light you to bed. Here comes a chopper to chop off your head!" The English are twisted, and I'm guessing Wizards would be especially so.
Oh my god. Um...
That was funny but totally macabre. I'm not sure how to react to this, really. It was very good.
Author's Response: Thanks... I think. ;)
It is pretty dark, I know, but all in good fun.
Wonderful! A little Edward Gorey like.
Author's Response: Oh, thank you! I can't imagine higher praise. :)
I'm getting to know your style now ... wickedly evil!
Author's Response: This is pretty morbid, even for me.
Oh, how awful!!! How awfully good!!!
Author's Response: Thank you! I wallowed in morbidity for a bit.
