Very clever, making Moody a Muggle-born Slytherin! There were hints in HBP that, in Slughorn's day, Muggle-borns were welcome there (as per his remarks about Lily).

I like how you pointed out that the Muggle-born would be trying to "prove" themselves constantly. Also, being Slytherin would give Moody an insider's lead in his future career, which would (doubtless) include arresting some of his former housemates!

(Also, having Hooch as a Slytherin might explain why Draco didn't get punished for flying while she was gone.)
