I was a little surprised to see Minerva tell Poppy all that she did. Minerva strikes me as being very conservative. But I am glad she did confide in her. As far as Albus and his "wife" statement, I was surprised he told Minerva of it...but I suppose he would confide in her and she would need to know in case Severus says anything later. It also conveyed to me that although he doesn't like to say she is his he still felt the need to show his claim of her. I found it incredibly noble and endearing and perhaps wondered if Albus knew how Severus treated Minerva when the Act was first over. I felt that if Albus knew Severus had made her cry he would have been very angry. “Of course not, my dear . . . you merely . . . breathe somewhat forcefully,” lol. That is simply...priceless! I love it! Some of their other conversation brings RaM to mind...like when Albus was playing chess with Merwyn and the latter told Albus he should "play" with Minerva. Great last chapter. I am looking forward to the epilogue and the sequel. =o)

Author's Response: Minerva has known Poppy for about 60 years, after all, and has worked with her for forty. The fact that she is normally conservative comes out in what Albus says about why she told Poppy, despite not having planned to -- she wanted reassurance that she was still herself despite having done something that would normally be out-of-character for her. Albus has no idea what Severus said/did afterward, and nobody present was going to tell him! LOL Glad you enjoyed some of the dialogue. I hope to have the epilogue up sometime in October. The sequel is well underway, and as soon as it's finished, I'll start posting it -- but pro'lly not here. Check my LJ to see when/where it will be posted. Thanks very much for your review! I really appreciate it!

this has been a WONDERFUL story. I had to snicker when Poppy began to wonder about Severus' eyes, after reading Heat....and Severus' peculiar feelings of good will..that was sweet.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm very glad you've enjoyed it. We still have the epilogue to come, and I hope you'll check out the sequel. Yeah, "Heat" was a different universe, but it does raise some interesting ideas . . . haha! Thank you for reviewing!

Love the story! The last chapter was...different...from what you normally read, but it was good. Don't think that many authors would have the guts to use these words in a a ADMM-story, but the you you wrote it was great!

Author's Response: I like fluffy, romantic, firelit lemons as much as the next person, but I imagine them, particularly Albus, as having a playful side. I think context is important, and the feelings between the two. I tried to keep the underlying warmth and love between them, and so I think it worked. Many folks seemed to like it, anyway! (I think that we can't look at people's public behavior, which is hopefully "appropriate," in order to learn how they are in their most intimate moments. I knew one guy who seemed like he be a lot of fun, but no amount of affection for him could make up for the fact that he was boring to the point of replacing a Sleeping Draught! Won't go into any further detail here! TMI!!!)

I'm glad you love the story, and I am very happy you reviewed. And, naturally, I'm glad that you liked the way that I wrote the last chapter! *grin*

*grins* I laughed so hard when he opens his eyes, sees Minerva and just groans 'Oh, Gods no' before banging his head against the arm of the settee :D Also - Snape reading those novels *starts to laugh again*

Author's Response: The story does begin on a light and humorous note before it becomes more serious, but it ends more lightly, as well. Glad it gave you a good chuckle! Thanks for reviewing!

whoo-whoo! It seems that Minerva did finally get to "fuck Albus Dumbledore AND HIS BEARD TOO!!!" If any couple deserves a little playful rough housing, it's these too! And you're planning a sequel? You just made my week!!!

Author's Response: The sequel will be quite different -- rather a DH-bender -- and we will see what a difference one ill-cast spell can make in the future of Severus, Albus, and Minerva -- the ramifications go beyond AAoL! I've actually started it, but I want to finish it before I begin to post it. It will be different from both AAoL and RaM, but I'm looking forward to it! Once I finish RaM, of course . . .
Thanks very much for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed it! *grin*

whoo-whoo! As a long time reader of the wonderful RaM, it is so nice to read a 'release of tension' for these two characters!

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it! *grin*

wow!!!!!!!!!! That was so great. I Love these two characters, and I liked the anecdote from the days of their courtship. I especially liked the line about Albus still not sure whether he prefers Minerva's hair up or down after all this time. That was particularly marvellous. Swoon!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And that you liked the little touches. :D I hope you enjoy the next chapter! Thank you very much for your review!

"I will not associate with dunderheads when they are disrespecting Hogwarts’ best teacher’?” lol!!! Only Hermione would have the humor, intelligence and guts to write that! Nice little SS/HG teaser. Poor Severus! One big, well-meaning parade of Gryffindors!

Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you liked Hermione's idea of appropriate lines to write in her "detention"! And it was a little bit SS/HG-ish, wasn't it? ;D Thanks very much for your review!

omg!!!!!!!!I LOVE this chapter. It's so wonderful and intense, with some humor thrown in too! That bit about Snape and Lupin arguing or buggering was priceless! And Albus needed to hear that Severus was tedious and boring!!! Whew!! Glad they got that cleared up-Dumbledore back to taking on too much responsibility for everthing. And I'm glad he's plotting something......

Author's Response: Thanks! Glad you liked that line -- hee! And now Albus can get on with his plot! In the next chapter, we get to see what Severus is up to -- he has a few interesting encounters. Thank you for the review!

Wonderful that Severus jumped right into self-destructive, cruel behaviour. Spot on, in my opinion. And I agree with what Longroot said about Snape reading the Agony columns! Yes it is fabulous. I have avoided reading your WIP Misunderstanding, but I suppose I will be sucked into, just as I was sucked into this one. Thank you for this story!

Author's Response: Thanks! I thought that would be very Severus -- especially after days of being lovey-dovey and sweet. There'll be another chapter of AAoL up in a week or two. I hope you enjoy Resolving a Misunderstanding -- I think you'll like it. My fave early chappies are "Spero et Expecto" and "Chez Albus," so I think you'll enjoy the story. :D

I love that Snape snaps out of it with obsenities. Too bad he directed them at Minerva. An encounter with....is it too late for him to kill Pansy? That wouldn't do, darn it......I really loved the opening bit with the Prophet getting the 'story' right....Hermione's doing? And the fact that Snape was reading Dear Abby/Agony Aunt letters in the newspaper was absolutely priceless! Almost as good as his shock over Albus' pipe!! I'm looking forward to Minerva 'dealing with Albus' and I'm so glad you updated today!!!

Author's Response: Yep, that was Hermione's doing. :D Glad you liked the Agony Aunt bit. Severus under the influence of the Adfectus is a different sort of Severus, isn't he? Thank you for reviewing!

poor Severus! Poor Dumbledore! It just tears at the heart-strings his uncertainty about whether Minerva is still going to want to be with him if they can no longer have sex. And that bit with him sleeping better on her pillow.....and poor Wilspy! I think Dumblydore should have a talk with her too! Nice overlap with the breakfast story from Resolving a Misunderstanding!

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you found it touching. :) And that you liked the little RaM overlap! Thanks again for reviewing!

Minerva better be careful around Wilspy. The wrath of Wilspy is not to be taken lightly! I love that bit about Dumbledore not wanting to smell like trees...great half chappy!

Author's Response: Thanks! And I think you're right about the wrath of Wilspy! ;D

I stumbled on this yesterday and was consumed by it! I love how you've fleshed out your ideas and drawn such complex and multi-layered characters. It occurs to me that Severus might well find a 'friend' in Hermione once he is 'cured' by his friend Minerva. Wonderful, wonderfully satisfying story - I'll keep checking for updates. Thank you!

Author's Response: Thank you very much for reviewing! I'm glad you're enjoying it so much. If you like this story, you may also like "Resolving a Misunderstanding," which takes place in the same fictional universe as "An Act of Love," and is even more multi-layered, both in terms of characters and in terms of plot. And as for Hermione . . . who knows? ;D Thanks again for your review!

I am enjoying this story very much. Of course a girl a bright as Hermione can be sneaky! :-) Thank you for telling this tale!

very fun chapter. I'm enjoying co-conspirator Hermione! Should we be at all worried that she's blushing and smiling? If she does have a thing for him, those chocolates might have her swooning!!I loved how she helped him out with that cheering charm, and that hexes come more naturally to her : ) It was almost Slytherin of her to wait until he's incapacitated by this curse to mention the Boomslang skin!!

Author's Response: Yeah, she figured he might be "safe" at that point! Snd, of course, Severus had suspected Harry of stealing it -- though he no doubt thought Harry too much of a dunderhead to be able to brew anything with it! I'm glad you liked co-conspirator Hermione. ;D There may be a *potential* thing for him there, but not at the moment. She does seem to have kind of a soft spot for him, though -- she doesn't think he's "only nasty," after all! Glad you liked her little Cheering Charm. And after what she did to Skeeter and Umbridge, does this surprise you -- that she's better at jinxes? LOL! Thanks very much for reviewing!

Wow!! That was some chapter!! Severus is just ..aaw at this stage. I loved the image of Albus kissing the top of her head even in sleep!!! Glad to know that there are 3 non-dunderhead Gryffindors!!! I loved the bit with Hermione teaching Pansy a thing or two!!

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it! Severus does have an "aaw" element to him, it just never got a chance to emerge before this! ;) Glad you liked the part about Albus & Minerva! :D And the bit about Hermione and Pansy, too . . . Thanks for reviewing, as always!

ahhh. Our favorite password is back!!! Wonderful chapter. I so enjoy reading both of your stories at once, with all of their interconnections between Albus and Minerva and even Hagrid!!! I'm also glad Wilspy like Severus as-is!

Author's Response: Yeah, Hagrid just walked up to Severus and started talking to him . . . so I let him! LOL! I'm glad you liked it. BTW, did you notice that the password is slightly different -- not 'spero' but 'credo'? Not hope anymore, but belief. . . . Albus has faith in his Minerva and that everything will work out . . . . And Wilspy does not like the "nice Snape" much, does she!? *grin* Hey, BTW, check out my drabbles -- I think you'd enjoy a few of them; they're very fast reads and some are funny, too -- "Circadian Rhythm," on Lumos. "Five Nights" is my favorite set, but it's not up yet. Thanks again for your review!

Thank you for the quick update! I was delighted to see this tale at the top of the list. Thanks for Wilspy, too. I really enjoyed her. Poor Snape, though! Poor baby.

Author's Response: HI, Pookah -- glad you enjoyed the update, including Wilspy! And, yep, poor Snape! (Are you also reading "Resolving a Misunderstanding"? Wilspy pops in and out there, too! She's a house-elf with opinions! *grin*)

LOVING this! Is it too terrible of me to hope that when Albus dies, Minerva will be able to move on after a couple of years, and reciprocate poor Severus's affection? Of course, maybe Albus won't die.........

Author's Response: There's always the possibility of this spawning an AU in which Albus doesn't die . . . and if that is the case, maybe Severus could find happiness with another witch. After all, "true love" in this spell doesn't mean "sole" or "only" love, or even "greatest" -- just that it is genuine and enduring. I'm very glad you're enjoying the story, and I really appreciate your review!

I feel sorry for Severus. I really do. But that poetry bit was funny....and I think his may be the best summary line of Snape's fantasy anywhere-I laughed out loud when I read it: "I envision being with you forever, of just the two of us living somewhere far away from all of the nastiness of the Dark Lord and the Ministry and the annoying dunderheads." ~cue soap opera music! ~Great stuff!!!

Author's Response: Glad you liked that! It made me smile when I wrote it. I've been trying to write sort of a humorous-angst piece, even though the angsty parts dominate it. There is still just too much opportunity of humor when you're dealing with a legitimately OOC Snape whose faculties have been dimmed and whose emotions have been bared -- I had to take advantage of it at least occasionally!
