I thought this was a lot of fun. I find it hard to see Harry this way--oh, I can see him very much wanting to be the family man, just hard to see him as trying to cram Hermione, then Ginny into a mold they wouldn't fit and being so presumptuous about it. That said, I loved the Remus/Ginny romance, and the theme of finding what fits and being true to yourself--that rose as a metaphor was perfect. And as a HG/SS shipper, how can I not love your Snape? I loved how learning Harry was Remus' rival brought him around so quickly.

Not a bad story with some very good characterizations, but I dislike OCs whose main purpose is to have everyone happily paired up at the end. I would have been happier with a Harry still trying to find his place in the world, baffled by a failed marriage to one of his closest friends who cheated on him with someone he dislikes, then rebuffed by the only other woman he's been close to. Not quite as happy an ending, but it rings truer.
Author's Response: Actually, Harry isn't "paired up happily" with anyone. He has a date, that's all. He's not baffled by the end of his marriage - he had two other fics to understand why his marriage to Hermione went south ("If She Fell" and "In A Lifetime"). My OC's purpose was to step between Ginny and Remus for a time.

I've been enjoying this story. I appreciate that you're not villifying Harry while pointing out why he and Ginny aren't suited to one another. I'm pleased for Ginny that she got the top job; just because Hermione's brilliant doesn't mean other people aren't smart and competent.
