I usually don't find so much unrelieved narrative compelling, but I was glued to the screen until the very last word which came all too soon. I think it's just that this such a fascinating and insightful character study of Percy--you capture his tunnel-vision, and his moments of remorse so well. The ending is absolutely heart-breaking, along "The Lady or the Tiger" lines--I hope that soon that hand will really rest on "at home" with Molly there to see it.
Author's Response: This was an unusual piece for me to write as well. I think I did so because Percy just breaks my heart and I needed to get that out of my system. Sure, he's a prat, but he's so sad! Thanks for reading, and thanks for the kind review! :)
Very eloquently written. I hadn't bothered much to think on Percy's point of view. You may have saved my opinion of him ;o) It will be interesting to see how things progress with him in the next books.
Speaking of, I can't wait for Friday, can you? :oD I get a free t-shirt with my book! lol. I'm only buying the book for the t-shirt, donchaknow :o)~ Now to see if I haven't misplaced my claim slip... oh dear...
Author's Response: I am very excited about HBP coming out. I pre-ordered from Amazon. I can't say I like Percy much, he's a prat. But I feel infinitly sorry for the poor sod. I'm rather hoping he comes back into the Weasley fold in book 6. Thanks for the reviews! :)
I *never* thought I'd read a story involving a realistically characterised Percy that I actually liked. I guess I was wrong. Thank you for writing one.
Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it! I don't like Percy, really; but I feel horribly sorry for him. It's so easy to make huge mistakes in judgement at that age. :)
That was perfect, I've been trying to assimulate something similar, but I can never get to work outside a research paper fashion. None the less - amazing. I love the way you've written and touched upon everything, getting the facts and characterizations right. I cried during the final paragraph....just, wow. Great job. *speechless* Props to you.
Author's Response: Wow! What a lovely review! I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much! Thanks! :)
Oh wow. I love the last paragraph. Very touching. Poor Percy, I do have rather a soft spot for the middle child.
Author's Response: I have a love/hate relationship with Percy. I think he's a wanker, but I feel terribly sad for him. Glad you enjoyed it. :)
That was moving and puts a different view on Percy. I like your style, it really lets the reader see things through a diffferent set of eyes.
Author's Response: Thank you very much! This isn't my usual kind of fic, but I got the idea in my head and I couldn't get rid of it until I wrote it down. I'm glad you think it didn't go amiss. :)
P.S.--I see nothing requiring a beta. See there? Look at how wonderful you're doing! *claps for Pooka's determination*
Author's Response: I will always require the best beta in fandom, Goblynn! It's a testament to your intelligence and patience that you think I did ok on this one! Thanks sweetheart! :)
How sad! Pooka, well done...one thing intriguing me: "He will return to stand silently weeping--night after night--before The Burrow until he finally makes his decision." It sounds as though he made his choice, finally...but what was it? "The door or the phial?" Very much "The Lady or the Tiger?" as far as I'm concerned, since we're left wondering so. Bravo!
Author's Response: You sweetie! I haven't yet decided whether to post a second chapter with his choice. I've been thinking about it. I may let it stand as is for a while and then do chappie 2. You rock, sweetie! :)
sniff sniff 10/10 ................................................ off him, i hate percy
Author's Response: Lol! Poor Percy! :)
wow that is awesome... maybe you'll be able to do another chapter with choice has been chosen...
thank you for writing this... i wonder if percy will be truly remoseful in the new book coming out.
Author's Response: Thanks Pickles! I'm considering a sequel, but I really haven't decided what his choice will be. I hope Percy will be remorseful. I hate to think he's turned his back on his family forever. :)
Oh, Pooka. That was so sad and so pretty. I liked it very, very much.
i must admit that I have had an idea for a story about Percy in my mind for quite some time. But it might take more before I get to write it down.
Greetings from Poland,
Novinha
Author's Response: Thank you, My Polish sweetie! I'm glad you liked it, and I hope you get around to writing that story down! :)
The door! The door! Choose the door! Oh, Plaid, I never thought anyone would make me feel sorry for Percy the Prat! Excellent job!
~Lisa
Author's Response: Percy breaks my heart. Oh, he's a great whopping git, I know. But I just have to feel sorry for the guy! Thanks for reviewing, Lisa! :)
Well, since you left that cliffie on OWF, I felt I should take the time to read this *grins*. I liked it, very angsty. If you go to a two-shot I really don't see a happy ending, but feel free to surprise me!
Author's Response: Honestly, no matter what Percy choses, I don't see much about it that will be happy. Thanks for following me over here! :)
Ah, so you’re branching out into redheads now, not to mention a touch of angst. I saw your name and couldn’t resist reading. For something so different than your usual stories, it was brilliantly written and very compelling. Percy is one of those characters that everyone loves to hate (not to mention how much he reminds me of one of my brother-in-laws.) You, however, have done a wonderful job of portraying his motivations, and the slippery slope of blind ambition someone that age is especially susceptible to. I have become used to seeing Percy written as a foolish death-eater, it is a refreshing change to see him so sympathetically characterized. (Sympathetic or not, though, I still prefer Sevie for my hugs!) Overall a touching little foray into Weasley-land.
Author's Response: *giggle* I prefer the Potions master for my hugs as well. Never fear, I won't be writing any Percy smut any time soon. I had to write this bit though. JKR has an ongoing theme of characters who made foolish choices when they were young. I don't like Percy--he's a prat--but I feel sorry for him and I do hope JKR gives him a chance to redeem himself somewhat. Thanks for the review, my dear Wolf! :)
You actually made me feel sorry for the prat.
Author's Response: I feel sorry for him as well. :)
I love the behind-the-scenes look at Percy!! He is a much neglected character, in a way (if you don't count Percy smut, which I would rather not). Poor Percy. I actually feel sorry for him now. Hope his mom catches a bout of insomnia, sees the clock, opens the door...... Thanks, Pook!
Author's Response: Thank you, sassy lady! Percy breaks my heart. It is so easy for one to make a few foolish choices that ruin one's chance of happiness, and learning to appologise and face the music is a lesson some folks never learn. Thanks for the R & R! :)
Nicely written. You should do a sequel where Ginny or Molly (the two most likely to be forgiving) comes downstairs for a drink and sees him.
Author's Response: I am thinking about a sequel, but I haven't yet decided if Percy will chose the lady or the tiger. Thanks for the review! :)
Ack!!! I don't like Percy, I don't like Percy, I don't like Percy - but you make me worry about him! Urgh...demon author... Choices: one-shot or two-shot? one-shot or two shot? OR: happy or sad ending? Hmmm, the story is labeled "Angst" but I'm always hopeful for a happy ending. Then again, you are the author who killed Bob the Unicorn, so there's no predicting what you'd do to Percy. Yipes! Maybe just keep it a one-shot and let us imagine our own endings. Eeks! Powerfully written story, Pooksie!
Author's Response: Thank you sweetie! I haven't decided whether it will grow into a two-shot or not. (But part two does not necessarily mean a happy ending.) I think I'll let it stand alone for now, while I try to get back to OWF. Then maybe I'll do another part someday. Thanks hon! :)
Pook... I'm crying here... damn you for making me snivvle over Percy of all people. Poor Percy...
Author's Response: Awww...Tarah, I wasn't trying to make you all weepy. I pity poor Percy, he really has made a mess of things. Thanks for the R&R sweetie! :)
Dang...That was really too good for words.
Author's Response: Awwww...Thanks Zambi! :)
Wonderful! I am starting to think twice about Percy.
Author's Response: Percy breaks my heart. Oh he's a great whopping git, but it's so easy to make foolish choices at that age; choices that you will regret for all your life. This seems like a theme in JKR's world. It makes me wonder what choices she may have made that she now regrets. Thanks for the read and review! :)
Oh my this was ... I'm tearing up. Lovely job, remembering the clock, and the emotions, and gah.
I'd love a sequel where he's forgiven, but that's just me wanting poor Percy not to hurt anymore.
Fabulous!
Author's Response: I may at some point do a sequel. I hate to leave him out in the cold. And I think Molly's heart is big enough to forgive anything. Thanks for the review! :)
Oh, how wonderful and sad. Especially the last line. Yes, this is different than what you usually do, but it was as wonderful and full of you.
Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I was a bit nervous about posting it, to be quite honest. It's a bit of a switch in style for me. Thank you for the review! :)
