You have captured a lot in this short piece, and it was certainly interesting to read without names. I think you understand Hermione's inclinations and hesitations well - I could see her becoming a bit of a recluse as her way of coping. Forgiving someone who needs her help is only natural - but I am glad you didn't let Draco stay as one of her "causes" ;). Well done! (Though I know you know that already, hehe)
Author's Response: My apologies for not responding sooner; but I've not been online at Pureblood in a very long time.
Having said that, thank you so much for a lovely response. In many ways, this piece is my personal character sketch of Hermione. I may write her differently depending on a story's dictates, but this is the way I really see her; I'm so glad you thought I did it well. Thank you.
This is such a beautiful story. Heart-wrenching when Hermione is alone and heartbroken and sad, and sooooo happy when Draco finally shows up. I love the "Open the door" letter, very neat. I also love that you only used their names once. It makes it all seem so much more personal that way, i guess. Anyway, it is beatiful. I think I'm going to go read it again.
Author's Response: Awww! Thanks, Langsiell. That's such a lovely compliment. This story in particular is near and dear to my heart. This represents my personal idea of Hermione without the demands of a plot shading her character.
Very nice! I enjoyed seeing the growth of all the characters. Lovely how they could put their differences aside in the end to support their friends.
Author's Response: Thank you, tobydog for reading and leaving a review. I appreciate that. In the end, it seems to me that survivors will find common ground despite childhood disagreements. At least that's the premise I used here.
awwww. how sweet. Draco reformed is my favorite...
Author's Response: Why thank you, sayyida. How very kind of you to tell me you enjoyed the story.
Beautiful piece of fiction. Well written and great perspective too!
LOL ;-)X
Author's Response: Thank you very much, Amethystique. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.
The Story is both imaginative and possible the person who wrote it should be very proud.
Author's Response: I'm touched that you liked it so much, serena. Thank you, and I'm very fond of it.
nice one shot.
Author's Response: Thanks, sharion. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I told you I would track down other stories by you. Another well written and well constructed piece of writing for me to enjoy.
Author's Response: You are more than welcome to track my back-catalogue, and I'm thrilled to think that you're enjoying it. I'm very glad to hear that you liked this piece, it's the closest to what I really think of Hermione.
I've had this fic in my 'favorites' for a while and I just realized I never posted a review. I Love It!!! This is how I see Hermione. I hope Jo gets a look at your fic and gives us what we want.
Author's Response: Of all the versions of Hermione I've written (how scary to think there've been that many), I think this is the one who is the closest to how I, personally, see her. Well, and the Hermione in 'Calling Card,' but that's a different ship. It makes me exceedingly happy to know that you, too, liked her enough to put this little vignette on your favorites. Thank you.
Ahh you know i read(and love) everything you write this is brilliant (as usual) and has an interesting style almost etherial in the lack of direct speech and fast pace. I've often thought it's possible that hermione doesn't feel truly at home in the wizarding world and that perhaps her overachievement is a reflection of this. very sweet, keep writing.
Author's Response: Ah, freewomble, it's fabulous to see your name pop up!
I really appreciate this wonderful compliment, especially as I was trying something a bit different in this piece. The lack of dialogue was a conscious choice, I was attempting to tell the entire story arc in three words (Mudblood to Hermione/Draco). "Ethereal"? I'm so pleased... I wanted to convey a relatively detached, yet affectionate, tone for the narrative voice and your review lets me know that to some degree I've managed it. As far as Hermione is concerned, I completely agree with you about her comfort in the wizarding world.
OMG.... this is SUCH a brilliant, brilliant story. I think that this is one of my absolute favorites of yours. Clever use of age... beautiful phrasing... wonderfully satisfying conclusion. Kudos, my dear!
Author's Response: ::blush:: You know I'm always so happy to know what you think... thank you, thank you, thank you.
Beautiful . . . A wonderful fannon. . . Thumbs up!
Author's Response: As are you, ma belle. Thank you for taking the time to let me know you enjoyed it.
You know I am always so thrilled when I find something that you write. And it appears that you and I have the same fascination with the same two Slytherin men and a particular Gryffindor. This story is very sweet and I like this pairing almost as much as I like SS/HG. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. -- B
Author's Response: B! It's always great to see your name on my screen. The fact that we like the same two Slytherins is just a testament to our good taste. There's just something so redeemable about Draco post-HBP, and I could just so easily see this scenario. Thank you kindly for the lovely review.
As usual, your writing is beautiful and poignant, and it's going in my favorites. Still, you are leaving those of us in the SS/HG fandom hanging a bit, aren't you?
Author's Response: You are a very complimentary reader, jeslyn_nighthawk, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I promise that I'm not leaving HG/SS hanging... I've been re-reading Summoning just to see where I am, and I'm 60 pages in on a post-HBP SS/HG story (it will end up around 10-11 chapters). I just won't post anything that's a WIP any longer (I've learned my lesson with Summoning). Thanks again for taking the time to give me a review.
AAAhhhh. Very sweet.
Author's Response: Thank you, thank you, daywahyn.
I really enjoyed reading this story. You write romance so beautifully and the story seems very real. Thank you.
Author's Response: Thank you, flatorres, for taking the time to let me know you enjoyed it. But also, I'm so very happy that you thought the story seemed real is a huge compliment.
I love your work. I really do. This one made me tear at all the right moments.
Author's Response: I'm so glad that it moved you, elementaldeity. That's praise indeed. This was something of a risk, because with such a removed perspective I wasn't sure that I could still make it touching. Thank you so much for telling me.
Aww, Bambu, that was an excellent story! :) Absolutely beautiful! I love how you opened each little section with her age, really emphasizing the passage of time. Beautiful!
Author's Response: AQ! It's great to see your name pop up on my screen, and I'm delighted that you liked my little piece. Thank you, thank you.
So happy you posted here.
What more can I say and if I repeat myself I am sorry.
A beautifully written story. The Narritive is wonderful and very moving your choice to only use three names was just perfect. It conveys a depth that shines through. I have to say everytime I see your name I know I am in for an amazing fic, you never let me down. The relationship with Neville so touching amazing how a few lines can get through such a lovely and sad side story. Your take on Hermione's life was turly a thought provoking and heartbreaking journey. And A fluffy ending always good and you did it wonderfully and it made me smile. And Severus thank you for making him a good guy it really made this fic perfect for me.
Thank you
Author's Response: ...ditto...

Author's Response: It's my pleasure to post at Pureblood, C, and you are always so generous with your reviews. I'm so happy to see that you enjoyed my gentle narrative. As you can tell, I don't think Severus is the villain he has been painted out to be... nothing in life is that black and white. And Draco is in the perfect position for the smallest of turns to alter his life-path completely. I simply chose to extrapolate a bit in broad strokes. I'm so happy you enjoyed it... and thank you, as always, for your lovely review.
different but definately cute
Author's Response: I'm glad that you enjoyed it, lunastar. It was a challenge for me that the only names used in the story are theirs and only used as dialogue once. Not to mention the difference between the first thing he calls her and the last. Thanks for taking the time to review.
