Excellent beginning, your following up on the last chapter. I would have thought that Lucius's arrest would have been done at the table, but given all that everyone had gone through, maybe it was better that it be done publicly. And I was pleasantly surprised that Draco said, "thank you", but since everyone was looking at him, he probably didn't feel that he had much choice. And I like how Harry came to Narcissa's rescue, which would be a big start in allowing the Malfoy's to re-enter society, and returning Draco's wand, which would have returned his status as a full wizard: After all, what is a wizard or a witch without a wand?
Author's Response: You raise a very good point about the arrest: my reason for Kingsley delaying it was because of compassion for Narcissa having to identify Bellatrix. And I had to have Harry come to Narcissa's aid, acknowledge what she had done for him (even if her main motive had been to save Draco!) I can see Harry being that impulsive and that generous: he's still on an adrenalin rush after the traumatic events of the day before. Thanks so much for reading and commenting! I haven't updated this story yet but I do plan to finish it ... there are two more chapters to go! Thanks again. :) Pearl
Wow. you have done such a good job on this story. it's beautifully written and really makes you feel the emotions of everyone, especially the Malfoys. Can't wait for the next chapter.
Author's Response: Thank you so very much! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I hope not to make you wait too long for the next chapter, which I am afraid will take some time. But I fully intend to finish the story! :)
Congratulations to four moving, well-written chapters! You describe the trial so real as if one would be sitting in the back row and watching. I (over all) feel with Lucius but I like it how you make the reader see things from Draco's point of view. His fear, reluctance and the will to somehow leave all this behind and go on are distrubingly intense and a pleasure to read. I am looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's Response: The Virginian, thanks very much indeed for your comment. I'm gratified to know that the story has drawn you in so much. *beams* These four chapters have taken me months to write (I do struggle with WIPs, just because of the time factor!) and I haven't even begun work on the next chapter yet. But it will be written, I promise, hopefully by the end of August. And then there will be one more. :) Thanks again for the encouragement! Pearl
I really like this ficlet. I can so see Harry doing this - telling the Ministry about Narcissa saving him. He has seen the Malfoys to be more than he thought - both the parents truely care for their son and family. Though he doesn't like them, or even think much of them, he would have to respect that. It is so much of what he never had and always wanted.
Thank you for capping that missing scene.
Author's Response: Thanks very much for your comment, sara lady dalian! And what a perceptive comment you made about Harry: It is so much of what he never had and always wanted. You know, I'd not even thought of that, but that really would help to explain his sympathy for the Malfoys in their predicament, even if he still doesn't like them. Thank you for capping that missing scene.
My pleasure, and thanks so much for commenting! :) There will be about six chapters to this story in all: I hope to post two more soon.
