Beautiful, tragic. The hints that you drop of a greater and grander story are quite skillful. I'm particularly intrigued by the "second son" reference. I adore all the rich detail that you have put into describing the scene and canon. Especially the invocative "thick river of blood" and the imagery of the crucio curse. You done a good job of capturing the cruelty of Voldemort, the way he enjoys playing with Draco, is horrible and well done. I did find myself getting a little lost in the procession into the room, you might want to tighten those few paragraphs up, when you're all done, but otherwise an intriguing beginning. Brava!
Beautifully written. As sad as it is, I can easily see this as the canon ending for both of these characters. Even if it makes me very sad for them both, and you've done the tiny, tiny hints at ambiguity in Snape's reactions exquisitely.
