I liked the open ending, though personally, I think in a way, he did forgive Snape - dead Snape. Don't think he could have if Snape had still been alive, actually. Very good story.

Okay, I see this has been here a while, but I only just spotted it. Like it a lot so far ... and I do hope there is a life beyond the veil.

Regardless of one's personal feelings about Snape, this was an extremely well-written story and very atmospheric. I especially enjoyed the imagery around Snape playing the out-of-tune piano, the decrepitude of the surroundings, and the in-depth exploration of the darkest of emotions - balanced with the very human need for forgiveness. The use of Latin phrases leant an even more Gothic feeling to the story. Well done! LoneStarVamp PI Accredited Beta Reader PI:2058264223

Author's Response: Thank you! The piano was symbolic in and of itself. Once, with care and practice it could have done good -- even great -- things. But since it was neglected and allowed to fall into disrepair, it can never live up to its potential. Snape is trying to play at it, but he, like the piano, was never taught and never "maintained."

A very good story, but I was a little disappointed with its ending.

Author's Response: Thanks. I'm curious as to why you were disappointed in the ending...

Haunting! You've created a very sadistic Snape...justifying his crimes because he "needed" to stay alive...quite dangerous. But I think you go too far by having him orchestrate Pettigrew and know about Sirius all along. After all, he seems (at first) to be someone who has fallen down the slippery slope of playing both sides. If that is so, he wasn't really a murderer until he was in his 30's. I could see that he wouldn't know how to deal with freedom, and would crave forgiveness before death. Your scenario, set so much later, is convincing. But I don't think I will let my Dad read this - men dying of old age in their 50's! ;)

Author's Response: Yes, very sad, that. I dunno, I think there is some evidence out there already that points to Snape knowing about Pettigrew being alive all along. It would put a whole new spin on the Shrieking Shack incident. Also, while it's not canon, there is a subtle hint in the third movie as well. Thank you for your review!

Another amazing chapter (too bad Snape is so "dark" in this one but I guess we just really know do we!) I love the way Remus and Snape let the past piece itself together bit by bit as truths are revieled through this altercation. You always manage to leave us with a cliff hanger too!

Oh Pigwidgeon you are such a splended writer! I love your style and the way you draw us in by touching on our sences (visuals, smells, taste, ect..) You make us part of the story. I can't wait to read the next chapter.
