Excellent! There are some spots where you switch tenses, but that seems more of a style choice because first-person-present can be a bear to write :) You have a great touch with conversations, and particularly with keeping them in character. "It's particularly unmanly, undignified, and terribly bad form" - wonderful line that's so in keeping with proper Remus. Kudos and chocolate chip cookies for a job beautifully done!

This is a very sensitively-written short story and I really liked the way you described Remus' loneliness and explored the depth of his emotions. Although the ending was, necessarily, bitter-sweet, it left me feeling satisfied. It's always nice when a bit of happiness enters Lupin's soul. Well done! Absolutely perfectly written Remus POV, I really enjoyed it! It's so nice how you build up his emotions, love overcoming his self-control... Surely my mistake, but I didn't catch the HBP spoiler-thing (or I don't remember, anyway...:)
