Lovely...and probably the most original plot that I've had the pleasure to read in quite some time. Hermione-the-adult rings true, but Draco is only hair's breath away from fluffy. Under stress (which I expect to see Draco suffer more as the storyline develops) I expect that we'll see more temper, pride and high-handedness. They aren't the nicest parts of his personality, but most people -- and none with whom I can identify or care about deeply -- are without significant flaws. I trust that we'll see more of his imperfections (and Hermione's) as we go along.
Sorry, I just re-read what I wrote and the tone's all wrong. (There are many good reasons I'm a reader and not a writer.) Please take it on faith that I love the story and your writing style. It's been a long, not very good day and it's a choice of posting this or not reviewing at all. I truly look forward to the next chapter. Good night and best wishes.
Author's Response: Hey, DozyTart...I'm so very sorry that yoiu had a bad day. I'm pleased that you like my plot. In a post-HBP world, one certainly can't expect the MoM to have emerged from the war untainted. As for Draco, in this universe - years down the road from Hogwarts and having been on the run and alone with Severus for all of them - I don't see him as fluffy. He's matured in a way that's perhaps different than he hmight have had he remained with the Death Eaters, had he continued on his self-destructive path, had he not grown emotionally past the age of 15. But he has grown, he has matured... he's far more familiar with Muggles than he even dreamed he would be! He's been the victim of prejudice, the same hurtful blind prejudice that he gifted Hermione with. And yes, the Draco of book 5 or six may have ranted and raved, thrown a temper tantrum or lashed out in bitter vitriol when finding out what happened to Narcissa, and taken it out on Hermione, even though she was the one caring for him. But years spent at Severus' side have also taught him control. And we don't know what's going on in his head, since this story is told from Hermione's perspective. So, even if Draco is barely holding those imperfections in check, the reader can only speculate. I appreciate your thorough and thought-provoking review, and I hope tomorrow's better!
Superb!
Author's Response: Thanks so very much! I appreciate it.
Pre-Review:
*squeals*
Oh my! You dedicated this to me! I think if you could see how I'm beaming, you'd get a little afraid. ;)
*shuts off music and prepares to read*
Thanks! :)
Author's Response: Well, I'd heard through the grapevine that you were needing a fic fix... although it's slightly different from what I usually write, I hope you enjoy it.
I have to say that I have been following your writing on multiple sites. I am very impressed with your style and the way you make everything fit together and add in enough humor to leave me in tears. It has been more than a pleasure reading this one, and I hope to see others.
Dianara of the
Darkraven Haven
Author's Response: Dianara, your praise overwhelms me! I'm so thrilled that you liked it, and that you thought everything fit together... it was one of my concerns. I'm also pleased that you enjoyed the humor. I must say, your incredibly generoius review has given me quite a boost - something I very much needed at the moment. I'm deeply grateful that you took the time to read and to leave such kind and encouraging words.
Well done! This was such a yummy story I'll be reading it again and again. The twist with Narcissa was totally unexpected! Brilliant!
Author's Response: Thanks, Deandra. I'm so glad you liked it. I can completely see the MoM, in their infinite wisdom, doing something as reprehensible as Obliviating suspected sympathizers, with Narcissa being the prime candidate. I'm very glad you liked it, and I thank you for reading and for taking the time to leave such an encouraging review!
Oh, it's over. I know that all good things come to an end, but I'm whining about it anyway. It was so sad, yet hopeful. I loved all the interactions, and Narcissa may not have been a "Malfoy" or "Black" anymore, but she has her family back and she's happy. And you left Draco and Hermione beginning a family of their own with each other. A woman can't ask for anything more than that. Thanks for the great story! Kudos to you and your beta! Cheers!
Author's Response: Wow! Thanks, Lyndie! I'm really pleased you liked it so much. The hope is what I especially wanted to showcase with Narcissa and Draco - that even though the war left their family devastated in so many ways, there was still something worth living for, and still people who would stand beside them and help them. I thank you for your kind and encouraging review. It's always a pleasure to hear from you!
I love it. So, sweet with his mother and little sister.
Author's Response: Thanks. I couldn't leave Narcissa without someone to take the place of those she lost... and someone for Draco to perhaps watch over, ever so discreetly. Thanks for reading!
That's so sad, I think Draco would be a good big brother, if Lucius wasn't around he could help them, he could've lied and said they were distant cousins, prehaps Narcissa had a backup plan, being a slytherin she could've placed a pensive of memories somewhere like in the Malfoy vault, Draco could accidently come upon.
Author's Response: Lots of great ideas, midnightlily! I stuck to the simple, straight forward plot, but you definitely have some great twists. Thanks for reading, and for taking the time to offer your suggestions.
I wish you wouldn't have ended it there. It was amazingly well written. Keep writing!
Author's Response: I'm incredibly flattered that you want more, Parivash. Nothing could make a writer feel more appreciated than knwing their audience wants more. Unfortunately, I couldn't see further than where I ended it. I'm not the "white picket fence" kind of writer, even though I adore happy endings. But please know that I truly appreciate your enthusiasm for more!
Very good. Loving it.
Author's Response: Thanks, jennyjo. I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Oh, no! That is so horrible, what happened to Narcissa. Personally, I do believe that in canon Narcissa has a very real idea of all that Lucius is involved in; how can she not with a sister like Bellatrix!?! But the MoM acting so irresponsibly, bloody government; they are all the same. I really hope that Severus can help them "help" her, but I'm more interested in how Hermione can help Draco. I hope she can handle how flaky he's going to be for a while. She's strong enough, but hopefully he won't lash out at her too badly. I cannot wait till I have the opportunity to read Chapter 4, but alas, my pillow calls. Thanks for the post!
Author's Response: Hey, Lyndie! I'm glad I've sparked a bit of ire in you on behalf of Narcissa... the MoM was way out of line, in my opinion, and extremely reactionary to the potential threat and the rampant distrust that permeated the wizarding world after the war. Thanks for reviewing!
These first two chapters are a great start! How does the saying go..."You had me at 'Hello.'"? And could you explain the fascination that "all you" lovely, creative wenches have with Hermione and Pirates? LOL!! Thank you so much for not only writing this tale, but posting it too! I'm looking forward to reading more. I love all this plot and sexual tension; my favorite combination. WaHoo!!!
Author's Response: Thanks, Lyndie! I have no idea why we all tend to pair Hermione up with those dastardly pirates... maybe it's all the "bodice rippers" we read in our youth! Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Excellent! I loved the pirates' scene. It reminded me of all those horrible romances I used to read (haven't we all?) and at the same time it was so much better. Can't really explain how that happened.... it must be the characters ;-)
Anyway, nice job. Very well done!
Author's Response: Thanks, SS! I had a blast writing the dream sequence -- I'm imagining it as Draco's answer to the WIKTT Passionate Trousers challenge. (And yes, I read those romances, too... ssshhhhhh!!) I think the characters make all the difference... of course, I am a little biased. I think Snape and Draco could make my automobile owner's manual interesting and more fun!! I appreciate you letting me know what you think. Thanks for reading!
I MUST have more of this! WONDERFUL, imaginative, decidedly sexy fic!
Author's Response: LOL... thanks, spuffygirl! Don't worry, there's more coming - five chapters all together. Decidedly sexy? I like that! **blush** Thanks for reading and for your enthusiastic review.
I just found this and WOW! I love it! I love the interactions between Malfoy and Snape and between Hermione and the men. Great job. I was loving the dream this chapter :) But I'm hoping Hermione's reality is much much better. I'm looking forward to chapter 3.
Author's Response: I'm so pleased that you're enjoying it, michelline! I loved weriting the dream... it was fun to delve into the world of "bodice rippers." Actually, the dream is inspired by WIKTT's Passionate Trousers challenge... definitely some wonderful entries there! I think you'll like Hermione's reality... chapter 3 is in the queue and should be coming your way soon! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!
I absolutely LOVE the story so far. Please update soon!
Miss Granger… please tell me I haven’t died and this is someone’s idea of hell.” ---LOL that was hilarious
Author's Response: Thanks so much, MM... I'm so glad you like it! The story is actually complete, and the chapters will be uploaded as fast as realistically possible. Oh, I'm pleased you like Severus' line, too... that was one of my personal favs as well. Thanks again for coming along for the ride.
I absolutely LOVE the story so far. Please update soon!

Author's Response:
Hey a quick update...Yea! This becoming my favorite story. I Think you have Snape perfect. Even thou he asked Draco to bring him there he'd still be his snarky self I love it can't wait for more.
Author's Response: Hey, jennyjo... yes, it is a quick update! The story is actually finished, so I'll post the rest as soon as possible. I'm thrilled you like my Snape... I absolutely love his character and really enjoy writing him. Thanks so much for continuing to read.
Excellent! Send more, soon!!
Author's Response: LOL! Thanks, TMgirl... the rest is on the way!
Oh, I want one of each, please. Santa, I promise to be a good girl if you bring me a Severus and a Draco for my very own!!! ;) I love your portrayal of Draco and Severus all grown up and much more understanding of others! I can't wait to see what happens next!! Love? A threesome? I guess I'll have to wait and see....!
Author's Response: You like them? Whew, I'm so relieved!! I was so afraid that they wouldn't be believable. There's no way that I could write a Severus that was as evil as JKR wants us to believe he is, and she left the door wide open for Draco to be redeemed. So... I think after spending time with our dark and droll half-blood, Mr. Malfoy would eventually see the error of his ways. Anyway, I'm thrilled you like it, and I thank you so much for taking the time to leave me such a wonderful review.
This is a great start. I'm looking forward to this continuing. I like the dialog between the two. Thanks
Author's Response: Thanks, JennyJo. I'm pleased that you liked the first chapter, and appreciate you taking the time to say so. More chapters will be following very very shortly.
