Oooh, I like! The twins are the best heirs of the Marauders, after all, so it is so nice to see Lupin passing the torch...and even getting to play along a bit ;). In defense of JKR, keep in mind that the 'blank parchment' does insult you at random...or at least respond to the person wielding it. So, the twins could have had several, well, conversations with it, always being egged on until they happened to get it right. But I like this version, too!

I always wondered how the twins found how to activate the map... and I like your explanation. (That's what I hate about the books, we can read scenes like this only because Harry is not in them... how much more about the characters we would know otherwise...)

~sniffle~ Tears, goddamnit! Tears!!! ... I must be a sentimental old woman or something. This was incredibly cute and touching. I loved how your Remus isn't an old fuddy-duddy and your twins aren't completely obnoxious. As a matter of fact, I think that this could be one of those scenes that we'd never see in canon, if only because Harry wasn't there. Well done!
