That was wonderful and showed a great side of Hermione's character.  I wonder how it would've been if JKR had ended her series with different pairings, rather than the obvious ones she did.  I really enjoyed reading this story.  Yay, Hermione!

Very interesting portrayal of characters...Slughorn was spot on, and Draco and Hermione were done very well. I also loved your description of Slughorn's walk. Fantastic job.

" . . . and oiled his way across the class . ." ROFL! What a good description. Slughorn really does ooze as much slime as his namesake, doesn't he. This was a perfect vignette. I always enjoy a chastened and less arrogant Draco. And with the war over, it is nice to see some tentative overtures at friendship between the different sides. I just hope Sluggy's prejudices can be overcome long enough for the "right" team to win the Felix. (I am of course assuming that the Granger/Malfoy team will brew a better potion than the Weasley/Potter team!)

Author's Response: ::curtseys:: Why thank you. I think that's my favorite line in this entire vignette. Sluggy is such a slime. I think Draco's quite broken by the end, and I suspect that in this encounter he's also bordering on desperate, so he's more accepting of Hermione's gesture than he might be otherwise. I can't imagine that he and Hermione won't pull it off. Harry might have Snape's book, but he's got an indifferent partner. (I flubbed the reply because I ended up typing it as a review. When I received notification of a second review, I was quite chagrined to discover it was my reply to you. Thus, my apologies for taking so long.)
