This is beautifully crafted. From the sliver of an introduction of an original character -- not too much at first -- to the heartbreak and anguish of Severus to Voldemort's insanity to Dumbledore's care. I do wonder at the diminution of Voldemort's desire for Snape... it seems slightly out of balance from the earlier two chapters and Snape's overriding fear... or is it as a result of Dumbledore's layer of protection over our potions master? I am eager for the next chapter of this gripping tale.
"The children are my own children; the instructors, my loves, my dearest friends." This is out of character for Snape.
excellent!
Where does one go when one is at the bottom? Up. It's a long climb, but I certainly hope that the view from the top is worth it. This is beautifully written Hephastus and you have a remarkable ability with a turn of phrase.
Wow! This is grim and agonizing to read, the myriad of pain and suffering that the poor potions masters suffers for his sins and his loves is extremely powerful. Albus' heartbreak mirrors that of the readers... a deep seated need to offer succor for the injuries that the Headmaster is to some degree reponsible for. This Voldemort is horribly malignant, a pox on humanity... It's well written and painfully gripping.
Wow. This is dark, and deep, and meaty. The nastiest and most menacing Voldemort I have read! A very intriguing characterization of him; normally he's almost a cartoon in fanfic. How is Albus going to get Snape out of this horrible bond he has made with Voldemorrt? Ooo, and Sirius...yum. Anxiously looking forward to more of this very dark fic. Thank you for sharing your story!! --Meli
