What a lovely story. Lucius' wizarding world is so full of colorful details, and Richard is a delightful boy! There's a certain sensitivity in your writing that JKR sometimes lacks. I look forward to the stories at Lumos.
Ah, that's right, Voldemort isn't back yet. So, just who is Richard's father...?
Author's Response: So far as the chapter is now, Richard is simply listed in the records of the magical world as "a Merlin". The original Merlin was a "fatherless" boy; said to be the a son of an icubus, or, as Draco said, a demon. In The Merlin, posted at "Lumos", Delphi Trelawney has a different piece of information....
This is a very different story I have read from the others. But nonetheless, I like this story....a lot. Please update soon.
Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you enjoy it!
Because the story is shifting to Richard Goodfellow's POV and his experiences at Hogwarts (and elsewhere), the story line will be shifting over to "Lumos". The titles will start with The Merlin, and there will be one stand-alone, Abelard and Heloise. Lucius will be everpresent in all of them in one way or another...
very interesting story. Shows a different side of Lucius.
Author's Response: But why is he "different"? stay tuned... ;D
Really original view into the matter of Lucius' activities before the second war. What amuses me most is the doffirence between his view on muggleborns and abused women. I hope you'll post the new chapter soon, cause I'm interested in the good side's reaction for such uncharacteristic behaviour from him.
Author's Response: Actually, the "good side" (meaning the public in general and the Ministry of Magic specifically) reactions are well-documented in the books. I'm just putting out my thoughts on why they would trust him with their children. After reading these chapters, wouldn't you want him to babysit yours? ;D
Interesting story looking into Lucius' "charitable" activities...but who is Richard exactly? I am wondering what will happen next...
Author's Response: ;D
So, we going to see tear 3 of Richard's story?
Author's Response: Yes, but not today or this month - it's still in rough draft. (I also need to get "Abelard and Heloise" finished and beta-ed.) Thanks for the encouragement!
I've been enjoying the story so much, that I've forgotten to review. I like the humour you use. Richard is a well fleshed-out character. I like his take on Quirrell. Very good job.
Author's Response: Thank you very much for your reviews, and for adding me to your favorite author list. There are more Richard stories, at this site and in the making. I appreciate your comment on Quirrell; he is not an easy character to use, and I had hoped to do him justice in this story set.
nice story :)
but i am a bit confushed, is he permently moved, or dose he jsut have a new place to visit?
Author's Response: Thanks for the review and the question! Like Dilys Derwent, who was a Healer and former Headmistress at Hogwarts, Snape’s portrait is able to go between the school and the hospital and thereby has the privilege of being able to go into the other pictures at St. Mungo’s. Pretty nice “retirement”, I’d say!
YAY!!! More about Richard. And of course we can't forget our dearly departed Professor Snape, I daresay. As usual, I loved this little jaunt. I can almost imagine Snape as "speechless". Keep up the Brilliant work!!
Sleepy
Author's Response: Thank you for your review! As for Snape, it's "if you can't snark, keep quiet," as when he would pass by Hermione's cauldron in Potions class. And Richard is very much alive in the post-moldy Voldy era.
Thanks for the heads up about the completion!!
Brilliant!!!!!!!!! But it has left me wanting more. Perhaps another "Sequel" is in the makings?
I really appreciate how your story line has followed along with the book(s). Also, that your writing flows so fluidly. It makes it easy to read and keeps me interested and wanting more.
Keep up the FANtabulous work. I can't wait to see what you have next.
Sleepy
Author's Response: Thank you!!! It's not easy keeping the story line in canon, and my beta has had to reign me in a time or two. There are other stories coming in (including the next "book"), but real life and computer problems keep getting in the way of "polish and post". Thank you for listing me as one of your favorite authors.
wonder why he is so...focued on richard...
Author's Response: St. Mungo's (and Voldemort) gave Lucius the position of a Benefactor - a financial foster father - to Richard, and the child has innocently usurped the love that should have been Draco's. After "Abelard and Heloise" is finished, there will be a story about Richard's father. Thank you for reading and reviewing!
Author's Response: "You have his name, his bed, the rights to his fortune, the shine of his place in society. You will give birth to his heir. You and your son will have everything that the Malfoy name carries. You will have everything but his love," the soothsayer told Narcissa. "The baby who was born under the Dark Mark already possess it." (from "In the Garden of England" - coming eventually to Sychophant Hex!)
nice. :)
i realy like this entire serries.
Author's Response: I'm glad you're enjoying it! Thank you for the reviews, Barb
intresting, cant wate to see whats next~
Author's Response: I have the last four chapters done. They're being beta-ed and submitted as quickly as possible.
i like this entire serries, hope you do more.
Author's Response: You'll be glad to know that the next chapter, "Draco's Detention", will shortly be on board!

Very well written. I read a couple of chaps at a time, this has peaked my interest....

Ch 1-4 I just found this story and I am glad that I did because I am thoroughly enjoying it. You have many little mysteries taking place here about Richard and I am hoping you continue to post. By paralleling the Philosopher's Stone, you are giving us a double story to enjoy as we remember Jo's book and become involved in yours. I am assuming Snape helped to rescue Richard from Quirrel's clutches surrepticiously. Well done.
Author's Response: I'm glad you're enjoying the story! I do have most of this "book" done; it's a matter of time to polish it before submitting it to my beta and getting it submitted. "Lucius Malfoy's Favorite Charity" and "The Merlin" take place before PS, are completed and here in the archive. There is another work in progress: "Abelard and Heloise", focusing on, erm, an "incident" in Richard's fifth year at Hogwarts. Thank you again!
And if I remember correctly, Hamlet invites the players to re enact a crime. Just how will the Hogwarts audience react? Who will be in the audience? What fun!
Author's Response: Ah! I think you've got it!
Wait until you see who Umbridge invited!!!
I had to smile at the student Geoff and the house elf Chaucer.
Author's Response: As Richard was raised at St. Mungo's and was a regular visitor at Malfoy Manor, he has a far different view of house-elves than Hermione. Chaucer the Caterer. Pity house-elves can't make pizza (at least not in this AU, and apparently not in canon either....)
The story of Abelard and Heloise is, of course, perfect for a Granger/Snape fiction. But is that the direction this is going??
Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! "The play's the thing/ Wherein I'll catch the conscience of the King." Kinda corny, but it sums up the current direction at the moment... Stay tuned for two more quotes from Hamlet.
