Brilliant premise - I particularly like the way you tied in your inventions to details from the canon (such as - for just one terrific example - your "Book of the Dead" idea and the fact that you need Egyptian soil - and who has work ties in Cairo? Bill Weasley)

Author's Response: Thank you! And I love your name, btw. Yes, I did try to tie things together. It's so much more satisfying that way. I appreciate you noticing!

This was *amazing*. I read the first chapter this morning and returned to it this evening intending to spread it out over several days, but I just couldn't stop. The characterization is perfectly extrapolated and subtle, and your detail and creativity with the magical aspects is *fantastic*. Thoroughly absorbing and *polished* from beginning to end -- a completely diverting and wonderful story.

Author's Response: Thank you for your very kind review. It's always nice to be praised for things one considers important--structure and detail. Attracting good and careful readers is a pleasure in itself!

I love this story. I especially loved your protrayal of Voldemort's secret plans/motives. It's sad that Draco will twist Lily's good intentions but all in all I'm glad that the Malfoys came out of the war on top. Lily was great. I also loved the reasoning behind Hermione's assistantship with Snape and how they both refused to give up when the punishment ended. Oh and the Cinderella charm was great.

Author's Response: Thanks for your review. I'm glad your enjoyed how it all turned out. And I enjoyed the Cinderella charm too!

An excellent story, and the ending was great for me, being an avid HGSS shipper. 10/10!

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it. I'm an HGSS shipper myself, and the story turned out to be a pre-ship. I was interested in showing how a relationship might develop in the context of the situation as a whole, and the idea of Hermione becoming a sort of Lily by proxy intrigued me. Thanks!

I've really enjoyed reading this story - so many fanfics seem to start out well but run out of steam towards the end. This was a fascinating read throughout. I like the way you hinted at the characters' futures without leaving loose ends.

Author's Response: Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I enjoy writing action, and had the big battle planned long before I finished the story. And it's always fun to imagine what happened after the story ends!

wow, i´ve read your story in one go. it was really special. your idea of voldemorts revenge was great. thank you for a wonderful reading time linthal

Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It was fun coming up with something original. Certainly Voldemort seems to have no respect for the lives of his followers--that's in canon. It wasn't so hard to imagine how he got to be such a sociopath. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Do look at the illustrated version--you might enjoy the concept!

Brava! Bravissima! It's a pleasure to read your facile prose and be swept along in the fascinating plot! Dang, you are GOOD! I hope to see another story from you soon! Blessings,Niamh

Author's Response: Thanks a lot! It means a great deal to me when other authors enjoy my work. Right now I think I'm going to wait until HPHBP comes out, and find out which of my ideas are absolutely no go. Then we'll see!

How sad for the poor Zabinis - such an insult, the second-class award medal for their dead child. Sigh ... isn't there any way that Severus can find out that Lily would have married him and not Draco? At least he's not going to miss out on love a third time - with Hermione, right? Is there any way you can do an epilogue?? Thank you for posting this story!

Author's Response: Lily's really gone from our world, and Severus can never know what she might have done in the future--not really. However, I've set up a future relationship (friendship, mentoring, romance--whatever you like to imagine) with Hermione, who will certainly at some point tell him that he was the one Lily was most concerned about on the last day of her life. As the years go by, it will mean a lot to him, and give him more confidence in establishing new relationships.

Very impressed indeed so far!!! Am looking forward to the rest of the story!!! One small error in this chapter, a portkey will only transport people touching the portkey, so Lily holding Blaise's arm would mean she would transport herself. Though I suppose that it could be arranged.

Oh no, the whole plan gone to fluff. Really, who couldn't have seen that letter as anything other than a portkey...silly Blaise. Anyway, great chapter. Update soon.

Author's Response: Since you're enjoying the story, I thought you might like seeing the complete, edited, and illustrated version now up at http://www.redhen-publications.com/Publications.html This will take you to JOdel's publications menu. You will find the story listed. It is graphics-heavy, so please allow plenty of time for it to load.

Finally the answer! What a wonderfully complete plan that Hermione has come up with. Perhaps there are other ways, but isn't this way the most interesting? I love it! Update soon, please.

Author's Response: It just seemed to me that Voldemort's making use of Harry's blood was something that ought to come back to bite him!

I like the way this story is playing out. I must admit, I do wonder if things would be as calm as you're portraying them between Harry and Lily (from Harry's side, at least). The bit in which Voldemort is killing off the pureblooded wizards, especially the Slytherins, he went to school with is very original, and very reasonable. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thank you for your kind words. It took me a long time to come up with an original idea!

Wow! This tale is so weaving. At first it was a simple story of Hermione's overacheiving and a picture's desire to help in the war effort. Now children are trying to kill children. I'm riveted to this tale. Please update soon.

Brilliant, some great views on Voldemort. You're really bringing the Slytherins to life, something which is neglected in the books. Looking forward to more.

Author's Response: JKR tells everything pretty much from Harry's POV. I'm not really sure he's interested in the other houses, but the rest of us are! Thanks for your support!

Wonderful! I love how you really weave the intricacies of the wizarding world. You've got this great perspective on the place of a muggle born in the wizarding world. And Lilly is the perfect person to tell us all about it. Snape realizes he's being used and that the brilliant Hermione is being pegged into the same position he's in. Wow....I never saw any of it that way before. Proof that the world of Harry Potter is still a highly uncharted one.

Author's Response: I agree. There's still plenty of room for new fics. JKR leaves so many loose ends that there are a lot of ideas that have never been used. Glad you like mine! Wait until Chapter 12! Then Lily will have even more to say!

Damn, this story is good. I love what Snape says to Herrmione at the end, and how resistant she is to actually *hearing* what he's saying. And to have her "snivel" back tears is perfect, since it draws yet another connection between her actions (however well intentioned) and the teenage actions/choices of "Snivellus."

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Wow, somebody finally caught the "snivel." You never know if a reader will read that carefully or not. I'm glad you did!
