My goodness, you wrote this in 2005?! This is fabulous, as it seems to fit with every bit of canon we have so far (except possibly his age, which is minor) QUITE impressed!

Ooh, this just came up for me on the Random Stories list, and I'm shaking my fist that you lost all the reviews for it at Morsmordre when they switched that archive to Lumos! I reviewed it there, didn't I? Didn't I? *thinks* Well, if not, let me rectify that now and tell you what a little gem this fic is. If I didn't know you as such a happy and well-adjusted person, I would worry about your talent for the dark side of the fic world! Never would have pegged you for a Tom Riddle writer, my dear, but this is just so visceral and chilling and pitch-perfect for him. Thanks for a great piece, and when you have the time, we want to see more fics from you! :) ~Lee

Great story... you really captured the way Riddle (aka Voldy) would be... fantastic!

Author's Response: Thanks, Tophera! I really appreciate your reading and reviewing my story. I've always been curious about how that confrontation would have gone, since it seems such a pivotal point in the story. Thanks again for reviewing! Donna (aka Mongo)

INCREDIBLY scary! I can absolutely imagine that's how it really was!

Author's Response: Hi Zaphod, and thanks very much for the review. :) I used to write rather fluffy "happy ending" stories, but this one certainly could be nothing like that. Have you ever wondered what certain alluded-to scenes would really have been like, had JKR written them? I was trying to fill in the gaps here. Thanks for reviewing! Donna (aka Mongo)

Very well written, I like the atmosphere and the end of WWII setting is very good with Frank's war memories and all that. I also enjoyed the description of the Riddle family...well done!!

Author's Response: Hi Snapeaddict. :) Thanks for the nice review! I tried to make the Riddles act like wealthy people who really don't care at all about anyone else. "Rich, snobbish and unpleasant" as JKR describes them. As for Frank, I tried to think of the sort of memory that might pop up if he were to be in the presence of dementors, so somethiing traumatic from the war seemed a natural fit. Thanks again for the review. :) Donna (aka Mongo)
