Hmm... Well, I KNOW I've reviewed this story, so I'm not sure why said review isn't here. Oh well.
Regardless, I just want to reiterate how much I LOVE this story. Very heart wrenching, very beautiful.
Maybe I identify so much with Padma in this story because I too want nothing to do with marriage, and I detest children, and cannot fathom even remotely why any woman would WILLINGLY go through the IMMENSELY AGONIZING experience and distugustingness of childbirth. Let alone get pregnant in the first place. The thought of a nearly microscopic parasite writhing around inside of me, and GROWING for nine months leaves me feeling nauseous.
And I LOVE the way you portray Severus in this. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with the person who said your portrayal of Severus is not to her liking. I mean, I think a lot of the stress he was under during the war is what made him so unbearable and hateful. Since the ending of the war, no, he wouldn't become "Little Miss Sunshine," but I think much of the stress would be gone, and therefore a slightly softer side might emerge. He still hates the children he teaches, and I can't see him ever not hating them, but I feel he's become more human since the war ended, and since finding Padma, he's been able to let go even more. Yet some of his insecurities (obviously) remain, and that is definitely realistic.
Anyway, again, I LOVE this story. It is most definitely one of my favorites!

Great story. It was touching, truthful and real. I love how you explore the trappings of duty, obligation and expectation through her eyes. And, I love how you had him question and challenge her acceptance and how she grew from it. That aside, the sex was fab, geez.... if only we could all find such great loves from the darkness. :-)

For 6 months she haven't seen his face at all?!Eh...That's a bit unrealistic. But,if we put that aside,and this version of "Snape",which I don't like(I expected him to have at least his personality,if not appearance),it's a good story. Everything's well written,and even though I don't like romantic parts,some are sexy,I admit ;)
Author's Response: I love it when people who don't like the "romantic parts" of stories read romance and fault it for being romantic, and even more when people fault *erotic fantasy* for being too "unrealistic" - that's about like faulting a college history book for sticking too much to the facts. And as for not seeing his face for six months - well, it worked for Apuleius when he told the story of Cupid and Psyche in his second-century novel "The Golden Ass," so it works for me now. One bit of advice - if you don't like stories with "romantic parts," perhaps the ones labeled "romance" might not be to your liking. Good luck!

This is an intensely beautiful story. Some of the themes remind me of other works of art relating to the struggle to be Anglo-Indian (I grew up with Indian friends in a Western culture, and you have portrayed the difficulties pitch-perfect).
It was hot, beautiful, and erotic. Reading your other reviews it seemed some people had a couple of gripes but the only thing that struck me as odd was one in continuity. He knows she's Indian, 24 and went to Hogwarts, yet was suprised it was a former student and didn't figure out who. It's minor, I know, as it is a PWP - and a very well done one too - but it did stand out. Other than that I have no problem with her not figuring out it was him - after all, even if you know someone sounds like your former teacher, you don't really expect him to be so sexy and such an incredible lover.
Just so very well done!

After reading your fic and kinda skipping over the smut. I have to say I found Padma very odd. It's not anything to do with being OOC but a lot to do with culture.
You mentioned a lot about Indian culture, but Padma just didn't seem like any Indian girl and not because she had an affair with a white guy or anything but how she went about it. I know this a pwp but the way she disregarded her morals (if any) i found very disgusting.
Now I know this was meant to be a pwp but she could've been a little bit more morally concious. I know this sounds like i sterotyping Padma but really its just any girl would probably expect just a little more out of a man.
I meant no offense with my comments.
Author's Response: No offense taken. However, my suggestion is that if you're in search of characterizations that fit your "morally conscious" standard, perhaps the "Porn Without Plot" section isn't the place to look for them. This is an erotic fantasy, certainly not a morals sermon of any kind.

I am so goddamn breathless right now. Gods, how is it that this beautiful storyteller has only been rewarded two reviews? Perhaps many are not patient enough to read this story, and I, being short on time, strolled through it slowly, taking in every miniscule detail, and admiring the use of such a broad expanse of vocabulary and busy being incredibly impressed by your sexual imagination.
