“So you have figured that out. Part of the reason for the complex instructions and precise measurements in Potion-making is as a concentration aid. Complete focus on the Potion is needed for the more complex ones.” That - is Brilliant!
AND WWII AND Hitler AND the Holocaust. Great. I've often wondered whether GG had anyting to do with WWII. I've also wondered whether Wizards notice massive muggle events like World Wars. Or, fer instance, whether or not they're interested in the fact that we're destroying the planet that they have to live on. What say you?
Oh my!
I just noticed that although this story was sarted in 2005 it is not yet finished. I guess that means you got a job - or died.
I want to read on but I also want to be reading a sory that is going to be completed. Are you going to finish or have you given up. Pardon me I meant to say, "moved on to other things?"
P.S. The questions. There were alot of them. Will that help or hurt in the long run?
I sure hope you finish this. Don't drop out of Hogwarts.
Author's Response: Hi Gargoyle,
I did indeed get a full time job, which is taking up a bunch of my time. I want to finish the story, but I haven't worked on it in a long time, as you can see. I will try to get back to it -- it's nice to hear that people are still enjoying it.

I know you wrote this some time ago but I just discovred it and read chapter one. I'm thrilled. The questions asked in arithmancy are just the sort or questions that perturb me. I think of them as theological questions whether we're talking physics, theology or magic. I'm so glad you're addressing them. I'm sort of new to Lumos and when I read the question, "Where does magic come from," I thought to myself, "I've just found my own Hogwarts! I'm in Hogwarts! Hallelujah" Thank you.
This is an amazing story. You've really captured my interest.
I've really enjoyed the fanfic. I was wondering if you plan on updating?
I'm really enjoying this story - please keep updating!!!
Author's Response: Thanks llyfr! I'm caught up in life stuff right now, but I intend to return to this story eventually.

This is such a well-plotted and believable story! I love the idea of Jewish magic, too -- it's an idea that makes perfect sense alongside the Jewish tradition of learning. Plus! Draco is in character, at his scheming best! I love it. I eagerly await the next installment.
Author's Response: Thank you so much, Maudite! I'm working on the next bit.
--Martha
Aren't plot bunnies just naughty sometimes? Great so far, though! I'm not usually a fan of Hermione and Draco, but I do like how you're working them together, and all of the characters seem very genuine so far.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I don't like H/D either, but for story reasons, they need to at least be allies here.
--Martha
I wonder who Draco will end up telling. Interesting theory that Draco has about Lily passing her powers to Harry. Looking forward to reading more.
Author's Response: Thanks, Chelle. I'm starting work on the next chapter now.
--Martha
Best of luck with your job hunt.
I like the grayness of the way you're writing Draco, it seems very clear to character. Looking forward to reading more.
Author's Response: Thanks Chelle! I definitely don't see Draco as a nice guy -- just one that might do the right thing for his own reasons. I mean, anyone raised by Lucius Malfoy isn't going to be *nice.*
--Martha
Please oh please don't let this be an abandoned fic...it's got so much potential! I do hope you update soon, I'm really looking forward to reading more...
Author's Response: Hi pipdreamer. No, I'm still working on this. In fact, I've got a chapter almost ready to go up. Hope you enjoy!
--Martha
Dear God! I sort of tripped backwards into this story, and I'm so very glad that I found you! Thank you for writing this! It's totally brilliant, I'm all bouncing on my toes to see more! It's extremely true to character, dispite the HBP AU-ness now, I'm completely enamoured with the plot, I look forward to more. thanks again for writing!!
Still fascinating. Loved the conversation between Albus, Minerva, and Severus. Looking forward to reading more.
Ooh, there's so much ambiguousness here now. Love the subtle suggestion of things that Minerva did, and I love Draco being unsure, and that mention of the loyalty of Snape that bothers me just a little. This chapter is swimming with the possibility of what's to come. I can't wait to read more.
Author's Response: Thanks so much, Feather Quill! I do try to put hints of what's to come -- you can decide which of them are intentional. :-)
--Martha
I'm very glad you're continuing the story, I find it fascinating. Looking forward to more.
Author's Response: Thanks, Michelle! I'm working on the next chapter.

pipedreamer likes updates....they keep her happy! I'm so glad you decided to continue the fic, and I'm really looking forward to your next installment. I really liked Draco's knee-jerk reaction to thise he considers beneath him, and you hit the nail on the head when you mention being capable of hating someone only because you've never met them. It's a powerful prejudice.
Keep the updates a comin!
pipedreamer
Author's Response: Thanks, Pipedreamer! I wasn't planning on focusing so much on Draco, but I realized that he just wasn't the type to automatically help others. And as far as dehumanizing people so you can hurt them, there's quite a bit of academic research showing how this can be done. For example, you need to do it for soldiers in an army so that they will be able to shoot at enemies. On the other hand, the same thing is done to suicide bombers to convince them to do it.
--Martha
It's wonderful. I'm very pleased that you've decided to continue the story.
Author's Response: Thank you so much, Inspire!

Martha - you should really consider finishing this story. Yes, it will be AU...I have a 40,000 word fic that I finished the day before HBP's release which is now blatantly AU, but I'm still planning on submitting it once I find a beta. It was stated on the forum that Works In Progress set in yr 6 would still be accepted and welcomed. I believe that your story is too good to go to waste. If you do finish it but don't feel like submitting it, I'd love to read it anyway, it's far too good an idea to just cut short, in my opinion. Do what you feel is best, and if you finish it, feel free to mail it to me at funkyguppy@yahoo.co.uk
pipedreamer
Author's Response: Thank you very much, pipedreamer. I'm fainly convinced now that I'm going to continue it. I've just got to do that darned writing. ;-)

Will there be an update on the horizon? The ideas and themes are so compelling I'm all out of nails to bite!
Will there be an update on the horizon? The ideas and themes are so compelling I'm all out of nails to bite!
Author's Response: Hi Pipedreamer,
I'm undecided about whether to continue this after HBP -- some of my theories about magic have been substantiated, but obviously the story is now seriously AU. Glad you're enjoying, though.
--Martha
I love the way you ask so many questions about the essence of magic that I have been puzzling. I'm sure that the timing of the defeat of Grindelwald and the end of the Second World War wasn't a coincidence, so it's very interesting to see it being tackled. Your plot is completely plausible and I can't wait to see where you're going with this.
Author's Response: Thank you, Caz! I also figured that the timing can't be coincidental -- and it ties in nicely with my questions about the lack of Jewish wizards. So now I just need to connect this whole shebang with Voldemort.
--Martha
Great story. Looking forward to the next update. Soon, please.
Author's Response: Thanks, Azulkan! I'm working on it.
--Martha
I just read through the story today. Sorry for not reviewing each chapter. I love the way you are trying to connect the holocaust and the plausible reasons for Grindelwald to be involved in it.
Your story is also a refreshing change from the shipping fics. I hope to see all the plot enfolding out with all the loose ends tied up. You deserve to be on the featured list.
Peace always.
Tinnidawg
Author's Response: Thank you so much, Tinnidawg! It really makes my day to get thoughtful feedback like this.
Interestingly, you're the second reviewer who's mentioned that you like my fic because it's not 'shippy. I didn't think about that -- mainly, I'm bad at writing love stories. ;-)
--Martha
I really like this story and am glad to see you moving forward with it.
alesia
Author's Response: Thank you very much, Alesia. It's great to know that people are reading and enjoying.
