There's one over at Ashwinder you might like: he has a slightly better deal there. It's called "Whose Side Are You On?" Another at the same site is "Inside Outside Hidden Away". Whew! Which is darker, James or Sev? Great background story! James, of course, conveniently forgetting the scene by the lake, where he shows himself to be the biggest jerk in school...."I’ll become as nerdy as Moony if I have to. But will it be enough to win her back?" Gah! in this, when did he ever have her in the first place! Good answer to the question of "why did she change". I'm putting this on my Favorites list, and pairing it with She Would Not Deny Him by fyiagcg at Pureblood!

Author's Response: Thanks, I'm glad you liked the story. Yes, I had a problem too with the whole "Lily falling in love with James" scenario, and Lupin's explanation that James managed to grow up just didn't sit well with me. But this sort of cheating seems to suit James' revealed character far better. He couldn't get her fairly, so, like the Levicorpus hex, he stole her from Severus. It also explains just why Snape is so bitter: I wanted to show how much in love he was with Lily and to lose that would have been heartbreaking. Plus it gives an extra little fillip to the whole plot if Severus was actually Jame's penniless cousin. That would make him Harry's blood relative now. I'm not sure, is that second cousin, or uncle? At any rate, he'd be legally Harry's next of kin after Aunt Petunia! (Harry sure has a problem with near relatives if that was the case in canon!) Alison
