Wow, what a fresh view of Salazar!

And it fits well with what we've seen of the Dursleys and what Hagrid told Harry in PS/SS, that Muggles would want them to solve all their problems for them. (Good description for the Muggle-born: "the flowers among the weeds".)

And a clever choice of name for Iago. It's interesting that he would have spent the time creating a statue of his father, or at least a representation of his idea of his father, but it would explain how it got there for the book/movie. (The story also answers the question of why the room was so huge and so ornate, and why there was no story of what happened to Salazar after he left the school.)

After reading this, I'm surprised Iago allowed the other Founders to continue bringing the "others" to Hogwarts, except possibly for the purpose of having a selection for finding the "truly useful" ones, and possibly having the less-useful ones still be allowed to be "useful"...

("How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is/To have a thankless child!" ~King Lear. Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I'm putting it on the "recommend" list. Thanks for a good tale.

Author's Response: Thanks for your review.

I was trying to come up with a alternate explanation for the Chamber; this was the result.

And Iago was fun to create. As a Founder's son, he wouldn't have the ability to overrule the other three, but he could certainly infect his own house with his prejudice.

I'm glad you enjoyed the story.
