Ouch.....everyone is in a rock and a hardplace. So Carson loves her...and he's dying with Albus...whom she loves....is Carson going to relay a message to Dumbledore for her...and Dumbledore is going to assume that she loves Carson, and is grieving for Carson (not that she wouldn't be anyway)....I can't help but speculate...you've set up quite a quandry!!!At first, I was thinking that she saves Albus, does 'nurse maid' and he uncomfortably realizes his 'improper feelings'...but now I think it's so likely that with Carson and Albus together, and Carson dying...yikes!!! I'll just have to find out when you update!!

You know, you really make me like Albus Dumbledore in a way I haven't for a long time ('cause I've been reading too many evil!DD stories, lol). I like that you've made him so complex in this story--rather than the omniscient headmaster we see in JKR's story, he's a normal man with extraordinary abilities, but normal all the same. I esp. like his vulnerability when thinking about Minerva, but it's also really nice in this chapter, too, because it helps us see how he inspires such loyalty and love. Thanks for another exciting chapter!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm especially glad you like my Albus. JKR only gives us a narrow perspective on Albus, but I think there are hints of his complexity throughout the books. And as your review indicated, he inspires loyalty and love -- difficult to do if you're the evil!DD some stories like to portray.

Yay!! An update. Hmm...where are you going to take us now? My guess is an Albus flashback! Which event caused him to try and distance himself?....Albus does not want her to leave Hogwarts, but he's distancing himself from her and he can't even acknowledge his feelings!! He's seems even more in denial than Minerva (wow). I'm really enjoying this story, and the subtlelty of emotions.
Author's Response: Thank you! You will actually get that event, although not *quite* the way you are envisioning it. I think you will continue to enjoy it, however. Albus has become quite adept at compartmentalizing certain parts of his life, as necessary.

Anyway, this chapter was lovely. The interactions between Minerva and her mentor strike me as so natural and right. I do hope that they resolve their differences in the present very soon!

Yay! An update! Poor Minerva...too bad Albus is so clueless...he's inadvertently torturing the girl! So, Minerva likes the intelligent, auburn haired boy? Does she have a type, or what?! Snickers..lovely chapter. However, I can't wait until Albus has his meeting with 'his dear Professor.'
Author's Response: Yeah, if he'd been a short blond with brown eyes and no sense of humor, he'd have gotten nowhere with her! *grin* The meeting will be in a few chapters -- there's a section coming up soon that I think you will enjoy, though it's quite different from the previous chapters. And to think I had her mother pegged as the one who would suspect a romance. :) Dark magic - hehehe! It's nice to see her father concerned enough to do something he normally would not in protection of his daughter and in a way that was as respectful as possible. The meeting with Albus went better than I had expected and the spell Albus cast around the table was hilarious! I love the little details you put in each chapter!!!

A lovely update! The scene in Madam Puddifoot's was wonderful. I really enjoyed getting to know Melina better. I hope there is more to come on her muggle boyfriend. Also, the ending of the chapter seemed a good lead into Minerva taking over as Head of Gryffindor. I hope that is covered in one of the flashbacks. :) And last but certainly not least, I enjoyed the way Minerva was disturbed by Albus being with Gertrude outside of Hogwarts – and at dinner time no less.

I feel so terrible for Minerva! She has really been through a lot since the morning. I can certainly understand her concerns about her friendship with Albus and the harm she has done to it.
The flashback to the beginning of her animagus training is very exciting. You really are hitting all the highlights we know about her past – and adding life to them. I can't wait to find out what the special project is that hinges on her transformation.

I know I was not being specifically addressed in the author's notes but as for continuing to read the story - YES! I shall be very put out if you don't continue updating on SH. Now to my review...
You were right! This chapter has lots of elements I love. The way Minerva showed some of the personality we see in the books and movies by calling an elf and ordering dinner for her Professor and insisting on helping him grade because he was ill and tired was lovely. Your story continues to improve (IMHO) with every chapter and has become one of my favorites.

Excellent story! I adore this pairing and love the way you have molded their personalities. All of the details of their lives and mannerisms are wonderful. The current issues between the two of them and the flashbacks come together seamlessly. I hope the next chapter will be uploaded soon.

What a wonderful update - I believe this is my favorite chapter so far! Minerva being frustrated with her elf at Hogwarts was fun to read. And of course I enjoyed her thoughts on It. The scene between her and Albus in the kitchen was a treat. I can picture it all, especially the uniform. The story just gets better with every chapter and I am finding it more difficult not to go and read it on the board when I get home at night. Luckily my daughter keeps me busy!

One reason I decided to write this story is I like this pairing and think it has lots of interesting possibilities, but there are few stories out there, as you say, especially on the moderated archives. I was so happy to see an update this morning! My writing partner said she would tell me what happens but I told her I wanted to read it for myself. :) (I am one half of Hogwarts Duo and can't get to the board or ff.net during the day which is when I read and write.) I think it is so funny that Minerva doesn't like nicknames and yet everyone has one for her. Meeting her family was great and I like that you gave her siblings. Her brother and niece are lovely. I hope we get to meet some of her other brothers in future chapters.

I'm glad that you liked Minerva's family. You will meet at least one more brother, but not for a while yet. The family dynamic, and Minerva's place in her family, generationally, are minor but significant points in the story.
The chapters posted here and at TPP are more polished than the "drafts" at FFnet & the board, so don't worry about not being able to read them there -- this will just be a more leisurely experience! (And don't let the other half of your Duo spoil it for you! *grin*)

Ha, I can just see McGonagall swearing like that when pushed to it! The fact that she's normally so proper gives it greater impact.
