great fic! where is the rest? ^_~
I'm quite enjoying this little Malfoy tale. However, where is Hermione's cleverness? And Draco's? Everything happens so fast... too bad.
Hello I am here by way of the reccomendation on live journal's crack_broom community. This is a delightful twisty tale. I hope to hell Draco cannot outwit his father. Go Lucius!!
Lucius is so vicious, I like it!! Interesting story with an absurd but good ending. It's well written and easy readable>>> on of my favourites :)
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it. It was an absurd ending, wasn't it? That's what made it so much fun. :D I like trying to create original magic that will fit into the HP universe...If you have time, you can check out part two: The Price of Glory. I hope to start work on part 3 soon.
I really liked the lovely melodrama of this story and am about to head over to the sequel. I almost quibbled with the Middle Ages comment in the author's note because the extreme religiousity of people in the medieval era and their faith in the (at least legal) inviolability of the marriage sacrament would have precluded such a law, but then I remembered, durr, medieval wizards wouldn't have been Christians. So sure, why not? Points for creativity.
Author's Response: Thanks ummmno. I'm glad that you liked it and my creative license. I essentially took the belief that women's rights weren't really important 1000 years ago or so. Women pretty much had one purpose, make babies. Perhaps Dark Ages would have been a better choice of terms as that is more what I was thinking about. But, as you said, wizards aren't Christians, so it works out.
remembering a girl I knew in school with that name
Oh, gods. Who in their own mind would name their child Phaedra!?!
Sorry, I had to comment on that.
I like the story. A bit too much like a latin-american soap opera for my taste, but I like it.
Author's Response: Maddy, I wondered that same thing the first time I looked up the mythology surrounding the name. Baby books have sometimes had only that it is a pretty name with a tragic past and that it's of Greek origin. Worked great for my purposes. LOL
As for this one being like a Latin-America soap opera, that was part of the fun of writing this one. It was so ludicrous, yet it tried to take itself seriously. LOL I just couldn't resist trying to go over the top.
Have I ever mentioned that I love your writing? Just in case I haven't, I love your writing. You bring a new appreciation to the Malfoys for me. Great job! Looking forward to the next installment.
Author's Response: Thanks, Jen. I'm glad to have helped someone appreciate the Malfoys (and especially Lucius) more. :) I'm glad you enjoyed this one and hope you will like the next as much.
I love it. I was looking for a story like this! And guess what? I found one. I'm definately keeping up with this!
Author's Response: Thanks, LTL. Once I finish up with Redemption I'll be working on the sequel to this one.
you should add to this, it seems like you left it hanging. I would've like to see what happened up until Hermione gives birth and what happens after that. Other than that, it is a really good story.
Author's Response: Thanks, enero. In between my other projects, I am working on a sequel to this. It's roughly half done, but I want to finish it all to make sure it meshes as a full story. :)
I just love all your stories, it seems! :) I'm looking forward to the sequel.
Author's Response: Thanks, Lydia. I'm glad you enjoy my writing. I've also got stuff on Wolfsbane and Occlumency. It will probably be a couple of weeks before I start posting on this sequel. :) I have to entertain the muses on Redemption and Beholden to No Man (Occlumency)
Very nice! Well written and definately going on my favorites^_^ Thinking about writing a sequel?
Author's Response: Thanks, Tom. Glad you enjoyed this. I have started on a sequel and the first 2/3 of it or so are out to beta. I can't really give a timeline when I might be posting it, I think I want to finish it before I start. :)
loved it ! sad to see it end here...but no worries...I'll read that other fic of yours :)
Author's Response: Thanks, Snibbles. I am working on a seond episode for this fic. I've sent the first part of it to beta and once I make sure I've put the right things on paper, I'll finish up the rest. Look for the sequel a couple of weeks from now. :)
This is interesting. I shudder to think about Hermoine's reaction to this news, though...are you going to have her go on about high handed pureblood snobbery and their archaic laws treating wives as property?
Author's Response: I did debate on putting her reaction in this story, but decided to wait for a sequel. I thought it would be fun to leave it up to the reader's imagination what her reaction would be. I have saved that part and will work it into a future follow on story. I definitely agree that her modern sensibilities would not care for that archaic law.
The trading wives law was very amusing! I love the way that Draco was caught and the fact that Draco is getting the wife he wanted and losing his rights as a Malfoy (which he wouldn't have lost had he been a loyal husband). The characterization of Lucius is fascinating, and I can see him manipulating even his own son like he did.
Author's Response: Draco just learned the hard way that he wasn't as smart as he thought he was. I really can't feel sorry for him. And yup, I most definitely saw Lucius having the ability to be that vindictive. After all, he has a family name to think about.
Loved it! Lucius got what he wanted, Hermione. Love the swapping wives idea. Hoping there will be a sequal to the story?
Author's Response: Thanks, kanoni. I am planning on one, just not sure when I'll start work on it.
That was a "neat" little twist. I'm looking forward to Hermione's reaction to Draco. Will she spill the beans, or will she hold her own council? Thanks for the post!
Author's Response: Thanks, Lyndie. I wanted to find a way to end it where everyone got what they thought they wanted. Well, Draco got a bit more than he wanted....As for Hermione's reaction, that will be waiting for the sequel. :)
Ooh, I love it. And old switcheroo with the wives will be nice. Hermione and Lucius are much better suited anyway. Great chapter.
Author's Response: Thanks, Tedabug. I've really grown attached to the L/H pairing and wanted to find an interesting way to bring it about. Glad you liked it. :)
HA! Draco got owned by Daddy. Btw, naming the little slut Phaedra is really clever! In love w/ her stepson and all that. Looking forward to more.
Author's Response: Thanks, severina. Would you believe I picked Phaedra as her name before I looked up about the myth? I actually knew a girl named Phaedra. The added meaning from the myth is even better. :)
Hah! Yes! Draco and Phaedra got what they deserved! And Hermione gets to stay with Lucius! Woo! Excellent conclusion, phoenix! I'd love to see you jump down the road and see how they're all doing a year from this! Draco has to become a working man to support his family, and we can see what Hermione and Lucius are up to! :)
Again, great job!
Author's Response: Thanks, Angel. I really loved how this one ended. I especially liked taking Draco's name. That was a late addition to the story, but sounded very much like what Lucius would do. :)
I'm definitely considering seeing how Draco adapts to the common man's life, or doesn't. ;)
Hehehehe.... love the chapter - although, I would have thought that seen as Lucius was already overdue being home, that Draco and the slut would have been more careful! *shrug* but then Draco is an idiot... lol... great chapter and I look forward to the next one!
Author's Response: Thanks, JTBJAB. Draco is an idiot, isn't it? Why else would he have thought he could fool his father? As for the dumb enough to be doing it on his father's desk when Lucius was overdue, remember, Lucius has owled home stating that he is running late and doesn't know when he'll be home. He's been very concerned for Phaedra's well-being due to her 'difficult' pregnancy. *wink*
Draco got caught with his pants down LOL=)
Author's Response: Hehehe! Wasn't that funny? I know that we have no proof that wizards wear trousers, but I really couldn't pass that up. Though, Mrs. Weasley did knit everyone jumpers for Christmas every year and I can't help but think a jumper would look odd over a long robe. Though, given a older wizard was wearing a lady's night dress at the QWC, who knows. I just liked the imagery. :) Thanks for reviewing.
Oh, I hope that Lucius catches them!!!
Author's Response: You're already imagining that reaction aren't you? LOL You'll see which of the two Malfoys gets the upper hand.
Oy... Mrs. Lucius Malfoy is pregnant by Draco Malfoy, and Mrs. Draco Malfoy is pregnant by Lucius Malfoy. You're right, this is such a soap opera. ;) But a soap opera that is a great deal of fun to read!
I can't wait until Draco and Phaedra's affair is blown out of the water. I wonder how Lucius will react to finding out that Phaedra's child is really his grandchild. He'll probably be rather... irrate, but he'll probably also see the irony in it. After all, the child that is supposed to be his grandchild is really his own child!
I wonder what will happen to Draco and Phaedra? Heh, perhaps Lucius will have them both killed in an 'unfortunate accident' and leave him with Hermione and both of the children. *smirks* Then things would just be perfect. They can raise both children and - hopefully - avoid the mistakes of the past.
Excellent job! :D Can't wait for more! :)
Author's Response: Wasn't that fun? I hadn't initially planned on having Phaedra in the story, but the whole idea of a love quadrangle was so much better than a triangle. Now it's a matter of who gets discovered first. *wink* And of course what everyone's fate will be. I hope you enjoy how it ends. I think you might find it a tad...unexpected. Thanks for reviewing. :)
yayayay!! Lucius and Hermione! Draco just keeps getting worse. He's not to bright to think he can fool Lucius... excellent chapter.
Author's Response: Draco thinks he's *soooo* smart, but something tells me that he will learn he is not as smart as his father.
Well everybody is guilty in this one, but I do believe that in Lucius' and Hermione's cases that they are far more innocent and I do hope they end up together "on top"! Thanks for the chapter!
Author's Response: Oh, yes, plenty of guilt to go around on this one. I would say that Hermione is more innocent. I wouldn't necessarily say Lucius is innocent as he did go and purposefully get Hermione pregnant, though in his defense, it was becasue Draco was being selfish. Glad you enjoyed htis one, Lyndie. :)
